1st deer with .357 Maxi
« on: November 15, 2010, 03:59:07 AM »
Well I got to try out my new Maxi this weekend.
I hunted Saturday morning but didn't get anything so I went back out in the rain Sat afternoon. About 5:00 a big ole doe came walking out of a thicket about 40 yards away. I put a 180gs SSP thru her heart and it was all over after a short 20 yard dash. The SSP went all the way thru and left about a 1"" hole on both sides. Pretty happy with the performance of this gun.

Great Hunt Randy.... backstraps on the grill  :P
You have a nice looking set-up on your rifle...
Hope we both get a nice buck... they are still chasing does..

Randy,
I was just thinking about you as I drove past the 231 exit off of I64 the other day. I am staying in New Albany for a while deer hunting myself. No luck here, as of yet, hopefully my day will come soon. It's good to see a another hunter using the Maxi!

That couch in the background had me concerned. I was really glad not to see your wife behind you with a rolling pin. ;D I originally thought you brought the deer into your living room. ::) :o

Thanks, Dinny

I'm down to does only as I got a buck in bow season. This is the third deer this year for my son and me so we have plenty of meat. I have a couple of people that want meat so we will keep hunting yet.

Dinny,
I wondered if anybody would say anything about that couch.  ;D
We bought a new couch a few months ago so I  put that one in the garage to wait til I could get  rid it of it but my dog took it over so I let him have it to sleep on.
I can't even walk in the back door with my boots on, much less bring a dead deer in the house.!!LOL.
BTW, my buddy John just called me and he got a doe with his Maxi last nite. 65 yard shot, ran 30 yards. He said the exit hole was big enough to almost put his fist in.

I took a pretty fair buck on Saturday, down in Clark County, with my maxi. About 50-60 yards. The little Handi performed well. I'm hoping to get back out with my .44 mag Handi.
