My son's buck, 2010
« on: November 16, 2010, 01:49:15 AM »
I don't post here, too often, but my son has had another great year, with his handi rifle.  Here is a pic of Dan's buck, taken with his 44 mag handi-rifle.  To date he has taken 9 deer, in 3 seasons, with that little gun, using the hornady leverevolution ammo.

We were hunting about 100 yds. apart.  I saw the buck come in, heard Dan shoot, watched the buck run maybe 40 yds., and pile up in the corn stalks!  SWEET! ;D  The buck was a 9 pt., and field dressed 195 lbs.

Besides his 44 mag, he has a handi 30-06, that he used in Africa.

Squib,  I'm just doing a plaque mount of the horns, for him.  He's taxidermy poor.  Just got his cat skin back from AZ., coupla weeks ago, and we got all our stuff back from South Africa, last April.  He says he's gotta be bigger than that, to get a shoulder mount. ;D

Wow! Great buck, and great cat too! I really like the rug.
Have you ever considered doing a European mount on the buck? My brother has a couple, and they're pretty cool if done right, and inexpensive. I'll prob have mine done European style from this year.
Congrats!!

My son has killed a lot of critters with his H&R/NEF rifles and shotguns.  Deer, bear, wild boar, doves, squirrels, kudu, cape hartebeast, wart hog, blue wildebeast, impala, blesbok, and zebra.  He's probably the only one, on this forum that took a NEF handi rifle, .30-06 to Africa.  I've got a ton of pics of his kills, but it would be redundant to post them here, because I have in the past.
