Nothing for three so far.  I had one sneak in almost touching range the first day on the blind side (naturally) of my stand and promptly give me the white goodbye sign when I turned.  I didn't feel like taking a running shot so let that one go.  Spent the whole day in the stand the second day and saw only squirrels and such.  The third day I could only stay until eight and saw nothing.  As I was driving out away from my hunting area and as I turned on the main road a large doe was crossing that road to a ridge that probably would have taken her right to my stand. Oh well..l  I'm taking most of today off to rest up but may take a trip to the stand that I have at the back of our home property.  There is not a lot of deer activity there but who knows maybe the old blind squirrel will find that nut.

Got my first shot at a deer this morning and the old 45/70 killed a hickory sapling instead. :D

Rutting like crazy.  Saw several average bucks and one stud Saturday.  Probably saw 30 deer over the day.  Good buck was never in range.  Sunday I hunted until 10 and saw maybe 10 including 2 mature bucks one with only have a rack and the other right at first light...

This guy walked under the stand:

Glad to know Missouri finally wised up and gave this guy a chance...

I am around Joplin, Saturday was very impressive for rutting activity.  Between 6:30 and 8:00am I saw 9 bucks and 3 does.  In the evening again, from 3:30 till dark 8 bucks and 4 does.  I killed a very nice 9 point opening day.  Good year for me, so far.

that's good and symmetrical greentruck!  pretty rack, I'd keep it.

I saw a couple fawns that hung around for awhile not too long after daylight.  about half an hour later I saw three does passing by my "blindspot" on the left, one was veering away from the others and a decent buck was right behind them.  he was sniffing around and turning from the two going ahead and the one going off to the side, deciding which he wanted to pursue.  he never got to make up his mind.  I heard good things about other stands in the area too.  sadly, many of the other hunters on the property I was at were noisy (talking, moving around, eating, 4-wheelers back and forth), left trash (food, drinks, cigarette butts), and were generally sloppy (moving around too much, leaving their stands early, poor weapons handling, no concept of scent control, falling asleep, couldn't hit anything and/or losing poorly hit deer after firing off lots of shots), so I am trying to avoid going out again until "doe season" now (when the woods aren't full of undisciplined fools).

Gald to hear some good reports.  My son and I got skunked during youth. so pressure was on the old man to get him set up during regular.  We got it done decent 8 point and a very proud 10 year old.  I have not shot one since he got his, passed on several waiting for the right one.

I am slow on the report back.  I teach school and their filter prevents me from posting pics.  Hope everyone had a safe season.  Muzzleloader action now.  I need to sight mine in tonight or tommarow and might get to hunt sat night.   I am still deerless at this point.   A nice buck during muzzleloading season would be nice, but..... Good luck and shoot straight.  SN   Update, looks like I can post pics now.   Muzzleloading season worked out like usual loaded it test fired it went once.  Maybe next year.  SN
