Don't pass over the Pardner 20 ga, I have one and its deadly on deer using plain jane Rem slugs.

How do you hunt and what is the longest range you plan to shoot.

I have both a Tracker II 20ga and a 20ga USH. With Lightfield hybred express the Tracker II is an absolute tack driver and with 2 3/4" buckhammers the 20ga USH is a close second. If I'm still hunting I like the Tracker II because it is lighter,if I'm in a stand and my kid doesn't already have it I will use the 20ga USH. I had the Tracker II drilled & tapped and wears a Simmons pro diamond 4X32, the USH wears a Bushnell Banner 1.5X4.5X32.

I think you could make that shot with just a plain shotgun using slugs or buckshot.  Although, 60 yards is pushing 12ga buck.  The federal flite control patterns excellent.

My Pardner with scope is fine out to 75 yds.

Like Joe says... spend $125 for a 20ga. Pardner and drill and tap it for a scope. The cheapo Remington Sluggers shoot great out of 'em and they're cheap. If you're just gonna use it with slugs you could cut it down to 20" or so for a real light handy woods gun.
No need to spend big bucks for what you need... you can probably get all set up for less than $200 including the scope. :)

I bought a 20ga 22" modified choke barrel here on GBO for $60 and an SB1 frame for $45 and had a stock set already. Had it drilled & tapped for a scope base another $50 and put a Simmons Pro Diamond 4X32 bought on GBO for $35. So for $190 I have a smooth bore 20ga slugger that keeps them inside a 6" shoot n c at 65 yards. for my neck of central New York thats a deer killer.

My ideal gun for that hunting situation would be a used tracker 1. Also an old topper Buck model. Smooth bore with sights. Should have never quit making them.
