CAC .44 Mag
« on: November 16, 2010, 02:32:48 PM »
Hey guys... I got my first Handi in today. It's a brand new Mossy Oak camo stock blue .44 Mag,,, I think I know what I'm saying but want to be sure. My gun is a 2008 SB1 or newer gun with hopefully the "good" bore that is not oversized, given that the serial number begins with CAC. The only thing that worries me is that the barrel is stamped SB2... could I still have an older barrel that's oversized?

Congrats, the barrel marking doesn't mean anything, Marlin makes the barrels, H&R puts em on frames, late 2006 and early 2007 44mag barrels were .429"-.430", so your 2008 is good to go, specially if it was made in Ilion NY.   ;)

Cool... thanks Tim! Yep, the frame says manufactured in Ilion, NY with the serial # starting with CAC. Got her set up with Warne rings and base and a new Redfield Revolution 3x9x40 scope... gonna give the Winchester 240's a go.

Flinthead,

Enjoy Handi #1 and your Redfield.  I have 3 of the new redfields and 2 of them are going deer hunting with me in a couple of weeks.  I think they are good scopes for their price range.

You got a good setup there with the new 44 and the redfield. The 44 will knock the stuffing out of most things and the redfields are great for the money... I've got one on my 22-250 and I love it. The 240's should shoot great out of your rifle too... I had an old 44 mag that shot them great so your new tighter bored barrel should stack 'em real tight. ;D have fun with it and a range report is in order. ;)
