Decided since it was nice and cold out that i'd try an easy recoil load in the new CVA Accura V2. I was curious to how it'd group with my planned load and so i figured that if it did good, i'd see if my nephew wants to use it rather than the 3006 apex for his hunt.
100gr Blackhorn209
245gr Aerotip Powerbelt
Winchester W209 primers
Now the extreme, i wanted pressures to be consistent so i used my 1/8" drill bit to clean the carbon out of the flash channel after each shot. I doubt it makes a difference but i had it, so i did it.
Perfectly 3" high, maybe 3 1/2" depending where you measure from. This rifle with this load is perfect out to 200 yards for my nephew, if he wants to use it.
Results from 100 yards.
Biggest problem with my Caldwell FCX is the amount of play on the rear support. They need to make that user adjustable so you can clamp down on the rear stock to keep the wiggling out of it. I used some powder tube caps as they are hard rubber "when its cold anyway lol" to shim that area and take out the side to side flop.
And of course me with my darned eyes closed again. I can never time the flash just right
And for the record, i tried 110gr later on and that was a horrible group! 2 1/2" wasn't acceptable to me.
Almost forgot to mention but ive only had the rifle out on the range Twice before! 3rd time is the charm!
