Since 1971 I have owned 7 2506s, and have never really ever, fired anything but hand-loads thru them. The 2506 is "inherently accurate" with proof being, it has been for many years been used at Camp Perry rifle matches. It is right up there with the 308, and 223 in the accuracy dept.
In every rifle I owned (7) I later floated the barrels, and glass bedded the actions although I admit it was not always necessary, but I wanted all the accuracy I knew the rifle was capable of. My deer loads were not only great deer loads, but all shot under an inch at 100 yards.
They were:a Speer 87 grain spire point over 60 grains of Reloader 19 powder for 3600fps, and a 100 grain Nosler partition over 58 grains of of Reloader 22 powder. I got these loads from a Hornady manual, but have loaded these velocities for many years, and as the warning labels say: I ain't responsible if you blow yourself up, I'm just sayin what I use.
Some will opt for the 100 grain Nosler, but I have never seen a deer, muley or whitetail, that the 87 grainer out of a 2506 wouldn't down.
