I have been looking at those .44 mag Scouts pretty hard.
Stop looking and get it.
This thing is nice. It's almost 2# lighter than my 44mag handi was too. Fluted barrel, checkered stocks, one piece scope mount/ rings, light trigger, etc. It really is a nice rifle. If you like handi's (who doesn't
) you'll like one of these.
Something else too... the forearm setup is completely different from the handi's... the barrel is attached to the frame with a pin like a TC and the forearm has 2 screws that hold it to the barrel... it doesn't contact the frame like the forearm on the handi's. It can't have the forearm pressure problems like the handi's because it doesn't touch the frame. It's a different setup and it's pretty slick.
The trigger is pretty light too... I'd guess about 3-3.5# pull. and smooth.
When I stand it up next to a handi the dimensions are almost identical too... stock length, grip location, trigger guard, etc.
I hate to say it but it's like a handi with all the bugs worked out.
Don't get me wrong... I love all my handi's but this one is definitely a keeper too. It's worth taking a look at for sure.
