I look at the big picture.  
Could the mafia appoint a commision to whitewash this away?  I don't believe they could.  I do think organized crime COULD have been involved, but only at a lower level.
LBJ COULD appoint the commision, but could LBJ have the power to sway the the press to promote the lone nut theory, ignore numerous contradictions, discredit anyone who did not go alone with the lone nut theory, for 47 years.
Could LBJ, or organized crime, prevent future bona-fide honest investigations, for an indefinite period of time by federal law enforcement?
Personally, I don't think so.  
The scope of the events that happened on that day are enormous, and are still with us today.  How could a kenya born, indonesia raised, muslim, EVER become President of the United States of America.

Leading Scientists now question the Actual Authenticity of the Zapruder film.
People , proportions signs shadows etc don't line up.  They believe the film could have been doctored.
