Fox hunt in Alabama and bringing the fox back to La.
« on: November 20, 2010, 04:53:02 PM »
Last year my son killed a fox in Alabama and we just skinned him. This year he wants me to let him mount a fox. When I get an Alabama out of state hunting lic I dont remember seeing any tags for animals such as that.

Here in Louisiana we cant kill foxes so im worried that when I come home with him if I was to get stopped by the game warden here I would be afraid that that I would get in trouble for having a fox they they would think was killed here.

Is there a procedure for bringing a dead animal back from Alabama to Louisiana?

Never heard of a tag. You might ask a La taxidermist how he would handle it. You could get it done here. Our taxidermists may have more experience with foxes since they should see more of them than a La taxidermist.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

have the fox tagged as you would if you was gonna sell the pelt so you will have proper paperwork for your state if you are worried about it or like stated above just have mounted in al and keep your reciept

10-4. I may look for someone with experience mounting foxes in AL and see what they charge.

Where are you hunting?
Maybe someone here can recommend someone closeby.

My dad lives in Lamar County on some property out there. Its family land that I usually hunt each year.
