Can you elaborate who it was built for and when. I love the fact the British manufacturers logged all notes on build data etc. Sure helps with the provinance some 75 to 100 years later. And I love history.  Really cool.

I don't like the PLASTIC black tips, but I DO like an actual ebony wooden tip atop a nice stock.  Adds contrast.  My .257 Roberts that I had built on a Turkish Mauser action sports a rosewood tip which I like (would have preferred ebony but it cost more).

I have to admit though, whilst I'm all about modern guns on handguns, I'm completely opposite and like classic style rifles.  If I ever had the time and money I'd love to have one done up with a Niedner-style buttplate, steel grip-cap, inset slight swivels, shadow-line cheek-piece, and a nice ebony tip on the stock.  Hand-cut wrap-around checkering too.  That setup in something like 7x57 or 6.5x55 is pretty much my dream rifle.

I don't agree with Swampman about using the Savage barrels for tomato stakes though.  :D
Those Savage barrels probably shoot straighter after a season in the garden than a brand new barrel from Winchester or Remington.

On topic, I'm not a big fan of ebony tips...rosewood on the other hand...I'm a sucker for good grain in wood.
