You say "without getting...ripped up".  Please explain.  Looks docile enough.  I infer they do not take kindly to folks "in their space".

These animals are aggressive and can rip you to shreds with their hind clawed paws. They have been known to disembowel humans with a single strike from both hind legs in one stroke. They are unpredictable and anyone that believes they are docile should reconsider.

Did my googling and found that they normally hit 120-150 pounds for a male but can weigh up to 200.  Females are half that size.  Looks like that boy is one of the bigger ones but there is nothing in the pics for scale.  Wouldn't want for him to get ticked off at me!  Methinks a .308 would do just about dandy on him though.

I think the boxing was a sideshow trick. When a big male like that stands up and looks you in the eye, it is quite intimidating. It has only happened once to me, I was glad I had a 12g loaded with 00 buck. I did not want to shoot, and had to back up and bypass him. Pete

It has been years since I've seen a Grey that big. I'll bet he'd go 80Kg. Just for interest for our American Friends it was once quite fashionable to turn a Roo's pill sack into a Tabacco pouch.

AHHHHhhhhh! the days of coon skin caps, kangaroo "pill saks" tobacco pouches, and animal hide cloths, How could a guy look or smell any better than that? A wonder any reproduction was experienced at all doesn't it?

That is a BIG roo, dodd.
Friends had problems with the big males.
They used to deliberately initimidate the wife when she was out in the paddocks and they harass their dogs until the dogs fought them and then try and drag the dog into the dam to drown it.
I culled a few big males and they weigh a lot.
There's a good amount of meat on them though.
But as others have said the danger is the back legs, not the claws.
They won't disembowel you but you could end up with internal injuries.
I filled tags with these 2 males using my 9.3x62 in 2008.
Neither are as big as the one at the beginning of the thread but I would not have wanted to try and tackle either of them live!

For the record, the cane toad leather stuff is GROSS! :-X
