298 lb doe taken in Alabama
« on: November 23, 2010, 09:31:06 AM »
Now is this a cross between a red deer or just the largest whitetail doe you have ever seen. She weighed a whopping 298 lbs on the hoof, taken in Alabama by a rifle hunter. If they were all this large, what an awesome tag fill.

If this would have been a photo, people would be screaming FAKE, Photoshop job, but here is the news report on video.

Looks like a red deer hind to me...neck ruff, square nose, big ears.

Yup I agree looks like a red deer hind to me also. I know some places in Florida have them and have heard there are some in Bama as well but for the last several years it's been illegal to bring in any type deer to Bama from outside.

I'd bet it escaped from a hunting preserve stocked with red deer.

I say not a whitetail. I see more Red Deer than anything.  DNA test would be interesting. I saw what Doc did. Even the bone structure is all wrong.
