i sold my Kahr.. no resale value !
« on: November 23, 2010, 12:49:35 PM »
in other posts, i have mentioned that do to economics, i have been selling off the majority of my gun collection.
well, i got to the point of need... and sold my Kahr cw40. i shopped around and got some offers, appraisals
in my area, as it turns out , Kahrs dont have a very high resale value.
i could have sold it on consignment and got $50 more, but i could not wait around and hope it'd sell
so i sold it outright, at less the %50 of new..
its a shame, Kahrs just dont seem to have the recognition that thier quality should merit, it reputation or resale value.

Likewise, Here in Detroit I have never seen one in a gun shop.  Admittedly, I dont go around hittin every gun shop I see, but I had never seen one till a buddy bought one, and he had to order it.   I thought "Kahr Arms" was another fly by night pistol company like Jennings, Davis, kel-tec, Feather, Calico, etc.  I had absolutly no interest in them, as I only like quality firearms.  After seeing his, I ordered one, and could'nt be more pleased with it !!  Great little carry piece.  MK 9, By the way.....

I got a great used Kahr and paid about 50% of new. Sorry that you had to sell yours. Hope things get better.

Sounds like you sold it to a dealer... you have to figure if they are going to sell it then it will have to be priced less than new for them to sell it and they will have to make a profit. There is nothing mean or sinister in that it is pure business. If they would pay more they would buy from their wholesaler and have a new gun to sell. The same even applies to new "popular" guns.

Don't blame the dealer or buyer that you were in a hurry and did not want to sell to a end user who was looking for a kahr and not just a deal.

Sorry to hear.  It's been my experience though that selling to a shop or dealer you're not going to get much regardless of what you're selling. Assuming it is working fine, put it up on Gunbroker and you'll usually see a better price.

I guess it depends on who's ox is being gored, but Kel Tec is not another fly by night pistol company.  Their pistols may not be pretty or expensive, they work well for a lot of us.

I got my CW40 incredibly cheap, got it from a guy who never even shot it...  read on some posts or gun magazine about the wristbreaking recoil of the plastic pistol and decided to get a 9mm instead, maybe your dealer was playing that card?  Sorry you didn't get what you wanted out of your pistol.
