PT1911 adjustable sights
« on: November 24, 2010, 10:10:40 AM »
I searched the forum and saw that this subject was touched upon back in April of 2007 but it doesn't appear that anything final was ever discussed.  I am wondering whether anyone out there has found an adjustable rear sight that fits the Taurus dovetail.  Standard sights are Heinie Straight 8's and Heinie cuts their sight to fit the Taurus dovetail.  Taurus does not use a dovetail standard to the industry but one of their own making instead.  This much I have confirmed with emails to both Heinie and Taurus.  While I love the pistol, mine shoots low and left with almost all brands of ammo, piles them right in there but the Straight 8 sights do not allow for elevation adjustment.  I can fix the windage, but not the height.  Any info would be greatly appreciated as my next option is to send the slide somewhere to have it recut.  Kind of hate to do that and would need to research where to send it anyway.  Thanks, Pete.

If this can be solved, I would buy one, but not until.

I bought HiViz sights for mine off of midwayusa.com. Sadly it only does windage but no elevation, just like the stock ones.

I have in the past filed down the front sight (keep it straight) to bring up the impact area.  Go slow, might not take much since you did not say how low.
