Tim is too conservative. He customized a .38-55 barrel for me, cutting it to 18 inches and recrowning it. It also came with bonded bulets that shoot very, very well. Thank you, Tim. I will get a deer with it yet this year.
Most of my reloading manuals have data for the .38-55, but a lot of them are for older rifles, not the Handi. It's the same problem with pistol caliber carbines....the recommended loads are for pistols and not rifles. I have no clue why they don't publish data for all three, older rifles, new rifles and pistols. It's obvious an 18 inch barrel can burn slower powders than a 6 inch hand gun.
