Jerusalem – PNN - A Catholic priest accused Israeli authorities of failing to investigate complaints of encroachment on Jerusalem churches, such as that regarding the attack on the Our Father Abraham church in Jerusalem last week.
Father Michael Suleyfan told the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronoth that in the last month, Israeli police did not investigate complaints in two major incidents, one in which a car deliberately hit a church front door, and another in which a nearby tenant was suspected of burglary, theft, and harassment.
“Two years ago, we arrested the thief and turned him into the police,” said Suleyfan. “They released him the next day and after two months he was stealing again.”
Suleyfan said a month and a half ago, police broke into several Silwan homes during clashes with Palestinian demonstrators. He said there was a sense of insecurity in the neighborhood of the church'
