Willie is still at it
« on: November 27, 2010, 11:45:19 AM »
You would think the old rascal would learn. Found marijuana on Willie Nelson's bus and he's been charged with possession. Looks like he would have found a better hiding place by now.  ::)  ;D I like Willie. Not his music, just the fact that every time I see a picture of him I can say "There is someone that's aged worse than I have".

HEH. I remember during a farmaid show years back. They were trying to interview Wille with Kris Kristofersen. They'd ask Willie a questionand Willie would just stare out in space with a big grin and glazed eyes. Kris grabbed the mic and say, What Willie meant was------. This went on several times, they finally gave up. I don't think Willie even knew where he was. POWDERMAN.  :D :D

Willie will not stop--hell boys--he probably forgot where he put it, they did him a favor finding it.
I love his music--he is near 75 now--don't look to bad for the miles.
Good weed, good whiskey and good music have proved to be a good combination for him--bless his heart.
Wrote more good songs in his life than many have sung.
He has an amazing way of wandering and getting it all back and making it work.

Never has been , and never will be a singer, song writer like Willie Nelson. He is totally unique! I bet you could poll every entertainer in the country field and they would unanimously vote for Willie,as the greatest!
I don't think he has ever tried to hide anything, including his MJ. And as far as aging..........Old and ugly looks good on Willie ;D

I never really cared for Willie's music although I have to admit he's a hell of a guitar picker. Now his buddy Waylon Jennings had some pretty good stuff. I never could understand why they let Kris Kristofferson hang around and try to sing. Guy's a pretty good actor but can't sing for sour apples.

Well, well... scarce police resources used to keep America safe from Willie Nelson? What a pitiful crock. Evidence that the drug war is workfare for people who need to be out of work?

Willie is a great singer/songwriter, extra emphasis on the former - many songs you'd recognize as classics were penned by Willie, but recorded & made famous by others. Just one example: he wrote Crazy, made famous by Pasty Cline. So far as Willie aging worse that you, oldandslow... you must be sumthin' - Willie is a runner and has a black belt in taekwondo. Whatchagot, old'nslow???

How would I know this? Grew up in Austin, and... my brother worked in Willie's studio on the Pedernales in the late 80s/early 90s. Willie's alright.

Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

I have been under a table at the World Headquarters of the Armadillo Club--seeing Willie at his best---I think I remember that.
I am told that willie thanked the police officer for he had forgotten where he hid it.
It aint no police work involved in bustin Willie for weed--just an easy way to make quota.

Willie Nelson's Stardust Album, still have it, like it a lot. No opinion on Willie's drug problems or personal exploits.

im agree william ..willie been around a long time..was a time when it seemed all the country singers wanted to do duets with him..he could sing about anyones songs an do a pretty good job of it..even comedian gearge burns had a hit song ,just asking willie to do a duet with him..pot smoking is just something he will do til it kills him..i still prefer him, waylin,j cash ,george jones an merle haggard etc.got a lot of thier music on cassets and cds.
nothin against the new stuff,i just prefered it..think i ll put one called willies best on right now.

I agree that Willie is a great musician and song writer. But as long as weed is illegal he or no one else should be exempt from the law! As a lot here including me say, what part of illegal don' t you understand? Should it be illegal? Don't matter it is.
As many times as he has been caught he should be doing jail time, but we have a separate set of laws for the rich and famous!

Hey, Yellowtail, I don't care if he can stand on his head and play guitar. I was talking about looks. I'm pretty wore out looking but not as frazzled as 'ol Willie.

All you that like his music are welcome to it. It's just not something I like. Don't really need anyone pointing out what a great musician/songwriter he is. I understand how long he's been around and what a fan base he has. I'm just don't care for country music at all. I did like a couple of his movies.

The OP was just in fun that Willie is still getting caught with drugs. Like I said, you would think he and his buddies would have learned to hide them better.  ;D

Yeah, well... here's the thing, Beerbelly - what good is that law doing? Like the blanket prohibition of firearms possession by one convicted of a felony at some time their past - what good is done by such law? Are the citizens of west Texas safer, now, with Willie in legal jack?

before laws are passed that infringe upon the rights of free men, they should be very, very carefully considered - what good will they accomplish, keeping in mind that 'good' is at the expense of freedom? Who benefits? Who is injured, and how?

No matter what, people are gonna do three things; 1-have sex 2-drink alcohol 3-get high. These come in order right behind air, water, food, and shelter. Look at prohibition. How'd that work for us? Now a tax stamp, money passed, all is well and people get handles like "beerbelly".The "drug war" will never be won. Period. So we spend about 40K per year to incarcerate low level drug offenders, build more prisons, etc. Seems like folks would learn........

I lke old Mr. Nelsons work.  I have listened to him for what must be 50 years now. All that being said, he is a product of the most left leaning area in the Southwest.  If it comes from Austin, Texas it is left wing.  Mr. Nelson has supported every Left Winger out their.  So if you like his work just hold your nose and enjoy.

Marijuana use among musicians is common. Louis Armstrong, for example, smoked reefer almost every day of his adult life. Nelson isn't hurting anybody, and he's almost 80, so he probably hasn't hurt himself much with it either. That failed suicide attempt about forty years ago where he layed down on the road and waited for a car to run over him could have done a lot worse.

Well if it worked for you Powderman, it was OK.  Some many years ago.  I was rolling along some where out side of Mule Shoe, Txs. I noticed I was having problems with my trailer.  I found an exit to get off the highway and ended  up in a small town called Littlefield.  I shut the rattlin Cumins diesel down near the main street of the little burg.  Well I was stuck in Littlefield ,Texas for a couple of days.  The Damn palce was "Dry" and out in the middle of a cotton field. The good part of it was the folks here were mostly poor but very nice.  They were all so proud that this was the home of Waylon Jennings.

I think they should legalize all drugs and let the dregs of the country kill them self’s with the crap! But no help from tax payers when they destroy their health!
If you don't like the law get your rep to do away with it. But as of now if I should get caught with weed I am going to jail! I don't think Willie is any better than me and should not be above the law! He breaks the law he should pay , just like every one else

What a joke. We are still willing to spend billions of tax dollars on failing enforcement practices and put people in jail to stop them from smoking a PLANT. How stupid.

Ban smoking a plant.  Well the last time I looked Tobacco is a plant. It seems every body is taxing and attacking the Tobacco industry.  They are forced to spend millions to educate people to not buy their legal products. There are no Tobacco Cartels killing thousands of people and shutting down governments that don't go along with them.  No one is hording AK 47s to protect the Tobacco farms. We have 13 states that closely control Tobacco but are making pot legal even though the Federal Govt. has laws against its use.  Did you ever notice these drugs all come from 3rd world Socialist States.  Damn that Tobacco has been grown by American Capitalist for more than 300 years. That stuff financed the first American Captalist government.  Hell they even used slaves at one time to grow the stuff.  The same folks that brought you open borders and dump millions of dollars into the Socialist States are pro Drug. Don't you see the light????

RR you got me thinking about that one. Yep tobacco basically built the US financed wars, first real big cash crop for export. Just thought, what would it be like had that product been weed instead?? LOL! Had europe been introduced and took to it like they did tobacco maybe  mark, stalin and hitler would have been too busy getting high instaead of being all oppressive. ;D  ;D  BTW,hemp was a pretty good cash crop back in the day as well.
