magazine conversion
« on: November 29, 2010, 07:45:32 AM »
I hear it is possible to convert the blind magazine to a hinged magazine or detachable box on a Savage 110/10 but I am finding pitiful information on it.

Savageshooters has an article that looks like it might have good info, but they want cash for the article.  I've looked on Midway and Brownells and I can't find any parts that look like they are intended for such conversions.   But maybe I'm looking for the wrong things?

One piece of advice was to buy a new stock that was ready-made for a box magazine.  Is it not possible to modify an existing stock?  Mine is wood.

You would first have to figure out which type of blind magazine you have.  One type the magazine is attached to the action and the other type the magazine is contained in the stock.  There may be other types.  There is a difference in the screw spacing between the two, at least with the short actions.  Larry

Just a couple that popped up under "savage DBM conversion".    I would call Sharp Shooter Supply, tell them what you are working on, and go from there.

Larry,

It's the type of blind mag that is attached to the action.

That is the slightly older staggered feed type of magazine.  The hole spacing in the stock is slightly less than the newer versions.  Larry
