My son's very first deer today!

Hey All! Today was the first day of Pennsylvania's Buck&Doe season. My son an I headed to the woods very early, to a good area on an old farm in our county. After four years of deerless hunts, my son got his chance! I have been one very happy Dad all day! It was a great day, a great hunt! and ended successfully. He took his first deer, antlerless as they say, and a great trophy to us! scout4<><

way ta go !!!! i remember my son's first....23 years ago.   and my oldest grandsons 3 years ago.
but i kan't member my first..... maybe it was last oct. 18th !!!!!
i lost it when my boys got there first... thats all that matters to me now
be proud !!! and it will live on forever !!!!
good job to your boy and to you for being there....he will always remember that first one... and most of all who his
partner was.

 Definitely memories for a lifetime!!  I remember mine, it was November 17Th, it was very warm, we drug that deer out in  T Shirts!! I shot it with a bow, I MISSED at ten yards and put the smack on it at about fifty!!! I'll never forget that day!!!

Thank You for the replies! We both appreciate that! This is his sixth hunting season, He just turned 18 this month. We bought that H&R rifle for him about a 1 an 1/2 years ago, so this is his first deer rifle, and he took that doe with his first shot on the first day of the rifle season. One shot one kill! It is a 308cal. He was shoot American Eagle brand 150gr. pointed, very accurate in this rifle. I gotta say, believe he's doing good so far this year, because he also took his first turkey. That also was with his H&R 12 gauge hammer gun! Thanks! scout4<><

Tell that young man congrats!  My son has been hunting with a variety of H&R rifles/shotguns, since he was 10 yo.  He has a bunch of 1 shot kills.  May your son have a long and loving relationship with those guns!

Congrats to your son. My son just turned 11, and got his first deer a week before turning 11. He shot it using a .243 about 80 yards out. Shot another one the day before at 120 yards, but someone took it before we could find it and tag it.
