He won't be comin round your stand no more
I am mixed on this and have let at least four pass over the years. Figure that if I pop one, I would need to drag it afar quickly but yet would still have a large amount of scent in my patch for a while and our hunting seasons are of short duration day wise.
One year, my partner who was around 1/4 mile to my north east saw a Coyote working the edge and it ended up right at the base of his tree and sat looking up at him. It didn't spook and my friend thought that it really did not know what he was as he remained motionless.
The yote then cut across the corner of woods to rye grass to woods and flushed out five deer that circled back in our direction. We both ended up getting a deer from that bunch so the Coyote helped for once.
I still dont like to see them when hunting deer but figure that a shot fired and the extra scent of a dead one may still be the greater evil???
There is getting to be too many of em for sure though, the part of me that say's shoot the He$$ out of them grows larger all the time so I applaud and congratulate you.
