The upcoming holliday has me thinking of what I would want if I could get it. I have always wished that Ruger would make a "low wall" version of the #1. If they could lighten the action and use a slender 22" barrel along with a #3 type lever it would make a great walking around varmint/ small game gun in calibers like 32-20, 22 Hornet, 357 mag ( or max ) 218 bee etc. For that matter it could be chambered in big game loads like 30-30 or 38-55. The #1 is a great gun but much too big for the smaller cartridges. If you could have anything you wanted for Christmas, what would it be? Shotgunner

Hi sg,
 They are abit pricey, but EABCO has the BF rifle. A small framed falling block, from what I've heard, is quite accurate.
 As for me, I could use a 15" .243 barrel and a 20 ga. barrel for my Encore. Then I would everything covered on this continent. Although I would like a either, a .338-06 AI or .338-376 Steyr AI, on a #1 action also. Please Please SANTA Please!

I used to ask Santa every year for Ruger to make a No. 1A in .22 rimfire.  Doesn't look like that will ever happen, so I would settle for the No. 1A in .22 Hornet.  Also, chamberings in some of the more common black powder chamberings would be nice, especially if the proper rifling twist for shooting cast bullets was used.  I'm thinking .32-40, .38-55, .40-65, in the same barrel configuration as the No. 1S in .45-70.

I agree with you on the #1A. I was looking for one in 7x57 when I found the FN Mauser that I am hunting with. I think the smaller cartridges and black powder rounds are a great idea. I don't have a 218 bee and would like a #1, or #3. How about a 25-20, 256 Win. or even a Jet. The #1B is too much gun for some of the rounds it is chambered in. I still would like to see an upgraded #3, without the plastic butplate or barrel band. Ed

Winchester low wall

I see that the Winchester low wall is back in 17 rimfire. I wonder what it would take to get it in some other calibers. Doe it have a tang for a tang sight? Or is there a tang safety in the way? Here is another wish, how about someone make a run of 25 rimfire ammo, there are a lot of old Remington rolling blocks and Marlin 27s out there. Shotgunner

The Winchester is actually made by the same folks that made the Browning high/low walls... Miroku in Japan.  It has a tang!  There are also a few (pricey) special edition Winchester Highwalls (also made by Miroku) just hitting the market...they have .38-55 and .45-70 versions out that are the same configuration as the Browning Traditional Hunters, except with Winchester markings.

If I could have ANYTHING I wanted, why not ask for the moon!
 I want a Ballard 7A-1 in .45-100, complete with Moroccan cased long range sight set, engraved, and nickeled receiver, 34" half octagon barrel, and the finest quality walnut stocks, with Marlin #10 checkering!

what about a rollingblock. Have any of you used any of the rolling block replicas? I was going to save up and maybe get one of the American made Remingtons, C. Sharps ect. What about the imports? Are they up to snuff? Shotgunner

I think right now I would ask for a Winchester 1885 in 17 HRM or could also use a Low Wall in 22 Hornet. If I needed something larger it would probably be the Traditional Hunter in 45/70 or #3 in 45/70. For anything between I have my B-78 in 25/06. Best of luck. Bob Ingman, AKA POW

I would like to see Ruger come out with a target type model of their No.1.  Like the B model(26" barrel) but with a heavier barrel, adjustable trigger and a stock like on the varmint model.  And I know I am most likely alone on this point but I would love to see Ruger bring back the .222 Remington in the No.1.  Lawdog

 I don't know much about the modern repros, but I have an original Rolling Block, which was assembled in Sweden, but used a receiver made by Remington in the US. It's chambered for the Swede equivalent of the .50-70, so I had the chamber reamed to the .50-70 Govt. caliber.
 Mine is a sporting model, with heaqvy full round barrel, and a great shooting gun! It was also very inexpensive. I bought it off antiqueguns.com, and it was a little over $400. The gun came fronm a fella in England, (AP Blades) and it retains most of it's original barrel finish, and about 70% case colors on the receiver too! It was much more affordable than a repro, and it has some history too! The best of both!

Here is a killer wish.
I wish Ruger would make a High Wall clone. This would provide a lower priced High Wall for those that want to use tang sights and a hammer.
How about a Ruger High Wall in 38/55 for a start.

I have a #1 V is 220 swift that is a shooter, 1/2" with a load it likes. It has the standard Ruger butstock which is much too low for prone shooting. I get a neck ache whenever a woodchuck goes down it's hole and I have to wait for it. I would like to see a higher stock for the #1. I will check out the Rollingblock lead, everyone likes a good deal. I hope that at least some of you guys get what you wish for. Shotgunner
