I'm new to the forums and I'm sure this question is asked often.  I'm looking to trade up a couple guns and eventually purchase a TC.  I'm looking at the G2 or Encore.  I like the thought of being able to buy heavier calibers in the Encore but I don't know if I want the recoil.  I've previously owned a 44 mag blackhawk and the recoil was not unmanageable.  I was wondering how the rifle calibers recoil is compared to a 44 mag?  I was thinking 30/30, 7-08, 7x30, or even .270.  I love those .270's in rifles!  Also how are the Encore combos?  One of the local sporting goods stores has a .270 encore with factory scope installed?  How are the TC scopes and rings?  I realize I'm going to be forking over quite a bit up front for the gun alone and I want to be as value conscious as possible for the scope/rings/base.  Any thoughts please let me know, sorry for probably asking some of the same questions for the millionth time.

i'd like to try a .270 myself. those hunter packages a good deals, in my opinion. the tc scopes are good. my 15" 7-08 is not bad in recoil(comparable to a full house 44mag revolver), and i doubt the .270 would be bad either. what are they, around $600 or so, for the package?(gun, scope, mounts, and case)

I have had the Encore s.s. 7-08 for about 6 weeks. This is my first hunting handgun.  I bougt the burris rings, weaver mount and a Burris 2-7 scope.  I have just over $800 in this setup.  The recoil is very mild, feels less than a .44 to me.  I shot 2 deer with it, an 11pt. and a 9pt. both about 175lbs and neither went more than 20 yards, lung shots (bowhunter having a hard time going for the shoulder rather than double lung...).  I really like this gun and am going to need to shoot it more.  I'm good to 100yds. but I'd like to be at 200 by next year.  Good luck..

I think the combo was around $650 but that's with a synthetic grip and foreend.  Thanks for the info, I was wondering how they compared to my old 44.  One other question I've heard of people's scopes walking with single rings in a large caliber?  If I bought the factory package I noticed they are single rings, anyone have any problems with them not holding tight enough?

I really think the 7mm-08 makes a lot more sense in a 15" barrel than a 270. If you are a big 270 fan and just have to have one, then go for it, nothing wrong with that. :wink:
