need help with finding perfect load for sps varmint in .308

does anyone have a sps varmint in .308 or know what the best bullets and powder charge to use. it has a 1:12 twist rate. i have tried speer 110 with bl-c(2) and i have tried sierra 180 round noses with bl-c(2). no luck with the 180s they were shooting inch and a half groups but the 110s shot around an inch. thanks

try some 125's or 150's should work better with the slower twist rate then the 180's did.

Try a Nosler Ballistic Tip in 150 or 165.  I don't like them for game animals, but they can't be beat on paper.

mostly big game i will shoot yotes with what ever if i see um but i do want them to shoot under an inch

i found a good round hornady 165 sst with BL-C(2) the first 3 shots were about .25 moa

My best 308 load is 125gr Nosler Bal Tip over 49.5gr of Varget.
This load is approaching max and compression so start lower and work up.
My rifle shows no pressure signs.

For 30 cal. the best varmint bullet I have ever loaded is the 130 gr. Speer HP. It is the litest bullet that I have found that will hold good groups out to 300 or 400 yrds. and it makes big holes in varmints.

For deer the 125 Nosler ballistic tip and 46 grs IMR 4895 is a drop them in their tracks load. For 150 gr Sierra pro hunter or Ballistic Tip use 43 to 44 grs IMR 4895. For varmints the 125 Speer TNT and 46 grs IMR 4895 is a bomb. These loads shoot very well in my 308 Win.

I have a Remington 700 VLS in the 308 caliber also with the 1 in 12 twist barrel. It loves the Sierra 165 grain Spitzer Boat Tail bullets. The number on the box is 2145 and they are the Game Kings. I use Varget powder and can get it to shoot one hole at 100 yards. I am also using CCI 200 large rifle primers. I shot a group at 200 yards a few weeks ago that measured .33. . You should give them a try I have a feeling your rifle might just like them. Take care Dale
