Deer hunt near Denver Indiana

Hello-

My friend and I have been invited to hunt deer during your muzzleloader season, near Denver Indiana (off East State Road 16)  We have never been there, and was wondering what to expect for deer numbers, possibility of good bucks left after your regular seasons, any chance of a late rut, hunting pressure, etc (the contact we have there doesn't hunt or pay attention to deer). We will hunt while the wives support the economy of Indianapolis, shopping for Christmas presents.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Deer numbers should be OK but not what they were a few years ago. Too many bonus and depredation permits. Early harvest this year so no standing crops and the deer are picking over the leftovers pretty hard. Hunting pressure most likely has been high as it is in most of the state during firearms season. We are only allowed one buck so yep there should be a few survivors. Second rut should start kickin soon but with the lower numbers of does it may not amount to much. Good luck.
