--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This week I spent 5 days with my friend Clay.
I got a nice WT buck, close to his house.
Yesterday Clay got a young 3year old bull Moose also close by. We draged the moose accross the field with his 4x4 3/4 ton pickup in deep 10" snow.
Then hung him up on the Bob Cat and skinned him. He shot the moose with the 300 Win mag, that I gave him, no contest he shot him twice but the second shot was not needed. He was about 200 yards away. The Moose was heading my way and I almost got a shot.
I fired only two shots with my 6.5x284 and killed two deer. The doe at about 100 yards
and the buck at 150. I used 140gr Hornady Interlock. I am very impressed with the accuracy and the performance of the bullets. The buck I shot behind th ear it destroyed the vertebrae
and exited.
The doe was a clean shot through.
She was covered by trees both the front and back and I was unable to shoot for the head.
I hate the mess a body shot makes. But sometimes you have no other choice. The 6.5x284 is a fine caliber and super accurate. The twist is 8.5". The barrel is 26" and octagon, which balances the rifle nicely.
People tell me the barrel will only last a thousand rounds. Who cares? Not me.
You know I had my 257 Roberts Handi along when I tried to load the rifle the gun would not close.
I had the ammo for the 257 R ok but for the #1.
Take about a hero, good thing I allways take two or three rifles.
Sorry some the deer pictures got messed up.
