Mossberg o/u Double firing.
« on: December 02, 2010, 12:19:26 AM »
Any ideas why a new mossberg silver reserve 20 ga would double fire? The gun  has been shot about 25 times and about 8 of those times were double. Pak.

It's probably homesick for Turkey - after all, exactly what is expected from a cut-rate firearm ?

I'm sorry, but I can't help but feeling that anyone buying one of those, or one of the Savage Gold Wings, got exactly what they wanted - a cheap gun - when, for only a few hundred $$ more, a pristine/used example of one of the world's gold standard O/U's (like a Beretta BL3 or SKB) could have been had.

Send it back to Mossberg, under warranty - per Federal Law, it's legal for any gun owner to do so directly, w/o going through an FFL.
Heck, if you call them first, they might even mail you a pre-paid shipping label.

I am an FFL dealer and since most people cannot afford to plunk down 7,8 9,dollars for the best, they still should have to make a gun that works. FFl dealers are checked to make sure we are not arming criminals, they should have to ckeck and make sure manufacturers are not selling junk.It just ticks me off

It ticks me to no end also - but the only thing an FFL can do, at the risk of losing the customer, is to advise against the purchase or outright refuse to order a POS for someone that doesn't know about soft parts & spotty heat-treating (if at all).

Sorry guys but I han't heard that these guns were so terrible. I've seen very few and since I get to see a lot of broken stuff maybe that's not so bad!! Doubling is a common problem with single trigger guns expecially if the trigger selector is inertial. This may be a cleaning issue. Some of these mechanisms are sensitive to excess grease o oil(especially congealed kinds.. Remove the buttstock and clean before lighting in to Mossberg to heavily. Keep us informed as to how this works out for you..

So for all of you who can not afford the high dollar safe queens, you can not have guns ::) pleaseeeee

Not everyone can afford the high tech top of the line. But I am pretty sure our low dollar non status symbols will kill critters just as well. We just have to learn to shoot without looking pretty :D

I love high dollar guns and own a heckav a lot of them but I started with a bolt action single! Those were some of the best days of my life. Still I wouldn't trade the RedLabel or the beretta for one. Get off your high fellas. I've only seen a couple of these imported o/u and all with stock fit problems.. some were stock to gun, some were stock to shooter..both were easy fixes,. Always buy the best you can afford but hunt with *and enjoy) what you have...
