Aderholt (R-AL) did not come in with the TEA PARTY group. He has been my congressman for several years and a good one by the way.
This is just Mussijohn putting out his left wing propaganda!

Earmarks are a joke.  They are only 2% of the total federal budget.  Social Security and Medicare are about 35%.  Welfare, food stamps and Medicaid are about 30%.  Military includes VA benefits.  The military is about 25%.  Nasa is less than 1/2 of 1%.  We have to do something about Social Security and Welfare period.  No way of really cutting the budget without that.  We are spending $1 trillion more than is taken in taxes each year.  If something isn't done to curb spending, we will be bankrupt as a nation in about 5 years.  In 5 years just the intrest on the debt will exceed the income in taxes.

1) We must stop imported oil.  Use our own coal, nuclear, wind, and natural gas instead.  Money stays home and creates jobs.  Money doesn't end up in terroists hands.
2) We must bring our industry back or create new industry.  Ask the CEO's what they need to bring back the industry.
3) We must stop illegals because they are sucking on our schools and medical facilities.  Build the fence, send them home.
4) We must start taxing imported goods to encourage industry to return, especially countries that we have a deficit with.
5) We must ease up on regulations and restrictions on industry.  We don't really need OSHA, insurance companies can take care of industrial accidents and encourage safety like they did prior to 1975.
6) We can't afford universal health care until we at least balance the budget and have taxes to cover it.
7) We must go back to the gold standard.

Let's not forget a bunch of office buildings chuck full of people that make the paper work, supervise the paper work, report on the paperwork, office equipement, overhead, and a ton of other stuff...to transfer all these wonderful funds.  Oh...they all have to retire as well, and with health care.  How much does that figure in?
Earmarks are small change for sure, but that adds up too, if you think it doesn't, empty the change out of your pockets every day for a year, you will be able to buy a gun with money you thought you would never have.  A couple of years with no earmarks could have bought 30 million people health care, and you would not even have had to pass health care legislation that costs a lot more.  Every penny of our money means something, as long as they always think in terms of billions, they won't be able to save a dime.
That's the way budgets work.  Every penny.

All I am trying to say on this is that no matter if we are talking democrats, republicans, tea party members, once they are on their way to or in Washington they ALL need to be watched like foxes circling the hen house. Is it just something in Washington DC air or water that seems to turn people that at one time meant to do what may be best for the country but once they get there it is just what is best for themselves or the their party only?

This is why we need term limits on congressmen and senators.  They would not be there long enough to get comfortable and do as much damage.  Should be 3-4 terms for congressmen and 2 terms for senators max.  Would clean out every 8-12 years regardless.

The good news is that there are 16 or so who have no earmarks next to their name.

They set a high standard for the rest.  I note that this list seems to be all the republicans and not just the tea party caucus.  Of course I could be wrong, it has happened before.

Yep, when you look again at the list, most are incumbent Republicans who have won re-election, not new TEA party members.  The new members wouldn't have earmark money anyways because they haven't been in office to vote for any earmarks.  This is really a twisted list.  There are also a handful of TEA party conservative democrats not listed.

education has gotten worse and the drop out rate has soared since we have had a dept of education.
oil imports have doubled or tripled since we have had an energy department.
It would be a great starting point to close both of these departments and tell other departments we will be reviewing your mission statements and if you are not meeting them you are gone.

TORPEDOMAN. No doubt many thousands of padded govt jobs could be eliminated. Just guessing but I'd venture to say at least 30% of the govt jobs could be eliminated, and we'd be better off for it. If govt contractors were more closely watched we wouldn't be paying $500 for a toilet seat or $1,000 for a hammer. I read where a guy ordered several plastic chair leg cups, about a $1.50,  and was asked why he needed so many $500 items. Contractors gouging US should be fired too. POWDERMAN.  POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Only because of a request from Greybeard and it is his board. Now if some of you would start showing some respect for the office of president, that would be a refreshing change. I can understand not liking the man but many of you have shown great disrespect for the office. If you have not noticed, I like Bush about as much as many of you like Obama but I have always referred to him as Bush or GW Bush, not by a bunch of derogatory names thought up by third graders in a school yard.

guzzi. I have no respect for your messiah, he has forever stained the office of president. I  asked before and you refused to answer so I'll ask this one more time.
You have claimed to be a Mennonite and Christian, yet seem to have  no problem supporting a man and party that sees the murder of babies as birth control and supports homosexuality. Both are abominations in Gods eyes. How can that be??? POWDERMAN.  :o :o

If they're tea party members how come they have an R after their name and not a TP ??
D's&R's have been earmarking for almost ever.

That's right, I figured this thread was spin and bait as soon as that was posted...cause most everyone knows the republicans are not the tea party at all.  They sat back and watched the tea party at the grass roots level do all the work, and all they had to do was sit there and decide if they would publically support the tea party or not if asked by a reporter.

Tea party idea is not republican...or dem, it's just and idea that government is corrupt and out of control and needs to be slapped down hard. The tea party will be aligned with the republicans by those on the left as a last ditch effort because they figure anything associated with the republican party will have some trouble. Remember, the dems have been hurt badly and people are not done yet with them yet, so you'll see lots of spin and bait in the future as well. The tea party did well. They have got things stirred up in both parties, both parties are affraid of them, and have the far left spitting and sputtering.  I doubt republicans could have done anything like that on their own.  Tea party has some power, reps and dems don't like it much since they are one and the same, just as Pat/Rick says.
