Hello!
I have an older model 110E in .243. The stock had been shortened for a woman to shoot and the action needs to be bedded in order to limit movement to improve accuracy.
The prob is that the stock is just plain ugly and I'd love to replace it.
I was under the assumption that all of the old 110E's were long actions no matter the caliber. I bought a factory take-off stock from another 110E cheap and thought it would bolt right up. I was wrong.
The stock I purchased came off a 30-06 and has 5" between the front mounting screws. Mine measures around 4 5/8" between.
All of the aftermarket stocks I see for sale are either 5" for long actions or 4 1/4" for short. I cannot find one with my screw pattern.
I even called Savage. They said they don't carry information for rifles older than about 1995 since the company changed hands. Crap!!
They recommended an aftermarket distributor, so I called them. The woman said they had one to fit it, but I was unwilling to buy unless she could give me an accurate measurement on the stock they were offering. She just said, "It should fit.". I heard that before!!
Can anyone point me to where I can find a decent stock that will bolt onto this gun? It can be a factory take-off, that would be fine. I'm trying not to spend a bunch of money on this rifle.
Maybe one of you has one you'd be willing to sell?
BTW, this gun has a blind magazine, so I'd prefer not to have an open box unless it has the plate and you are positive it will fit.
