« on: December 05, 2010, 05:54:38 AM »
Hi all,I may be getting a Browning High Wall 1885 in .45-70 Govt. Wasnt looking to buy a gun but my brother needs money and wants to sell his to me. It has less than 40 rounds thru it,he has it since about '98 from new. It got a few handling marks but is in darn good cond. I havent much use for it but I'm trying to help him out. Best I can offer him is 500. Money is tight for me too... :-[

IMO it's way too little  ;D I have seen them on GunBroker for $1200-1500 . I had one in 30-06 and sold it, I still wish I had kept it :)

Thanks. First thing I did was look at Gunbroker and showed him what they are "going" for and then explained I cant afford to give him that much. :-[ Also pointed out that most of those arent "going" anywhere as they had 0 bids. :o

;D You think alot like me. I told him he has the buy back option. Anyways looks like I now own a Browning 1885. Pretty rifle...cant wait to take it to the range. And ofcourse I'll steam out the dings and touch it up. It wont take much to get her looking like new.
I had a couple Marlins in .45-70 years ago. They were NOT fun to shoot. This rifle has some heft to it so I'm hoping it is more pleasant.
