The Federal Election Commission is investigating a complaint that Rep. Charles Rangel improperly used his National Leadership PAC to fund his legal defense on ethics charges for which he was censured Thursday, The Post has learned.

The FEC is acting on a complaint by the National Legal and Policy Center filed after The Post reported last month that Rangel paid nearly $400,000 from his PAC.

Lawmakers are only allowed to use money in their individual campaign funds for legal fees, or they can set up legal defense funds for such costs.

Rangel appeared before the House Ethics Committee last month saying he could no longer afford legal counsel after already burning through $2 million.

The center expects to file a second complaint this week contending that Rangel's PAC money included at least $195,000 in donations from lobbyists with business before the House Ways & Means Committee, of which he is a member.

Yesterday, the Harlem pol said he's ready to put the incident behind him.

"In all fairness, I was not found guilty of corruption, I did not go to bed with kids, I did not hurt the House speaker, I did not start a revolution against the United States of America, I did not steal any money, I did not take any bribes, and that is abundantly clear," he said

Actually there's a lot more to Charlie Rangel than than that, but it's understandable that you can't see post those things. Example: what do you know about his military service?

Same with my old buddy Frank, who was a marine colonel who served in viet nam. He was a great guy who introduced me to the pleasures of dove hunting, over under shotguns, exploring some great wilderness, he was a fine father to his son and by all accounts a fine and professional man. He was charismatic, murdered his wife, was handsome, and athletic. Beyond that he was well educated, articulate, wise, and he conducted himself in all situations with aplomb and calm reserve. He didn't beat the rap.

He's no different than all the other bums in Congress both republics and Dems. These guys enter Congress with loose change in their pockets and leave with millions. My congressman had only one type of job his entire life-a politician. He has a million dollar house and a condo of equal value. Life is good to these bums.

Well, that's just not fair - not all of Obama's detractors are racist idiots, not all of them are xenophobic dolts who think he's a 'muzzie'. As for Rangel... well, I'm sure he's got some critics somewhere who know something about him, other than he's a black democrat. Somewhere.

Time to loosen that headband a little. Let me break it down for you. Dems have for years thought that they could do whatever they wished & pretty much have. And sadly many Black polititians have used the race card & lib White boys help them raise that card, which is what I was referring to all along & I stand by that quite correctly.

He's a criminal, plain and simple. The fact that he is black or had a good military record, even if he were a Medal Of Honor winner doesn't excuse him from that. He had his hand slapped for it and not very hard at that. Got off basically scott free. I wonder what will come from this latest accusation and how hard the slap will be if he is found guilty.
