The ironic thing is my contactors want to hire Americans first, black, white, native Americans, but most can't pass the drug tests.  So, they end up hiring Hispanics.  Of course, they must have a legal green card and pass a drug test.  They have a lot of older blacks and whites, and younger hispanics.  Young blacks and whites can't pass drug tests, or don't want to work on a pipeline.

Curious, what area of the country and what type of wage in that area does a job like this get?

cabin4, i just noticed your line at the bottom about getting out of the un. that's exactly what every country needs to do. and then they need to start doing their business the same way. shop  at home/manufacture at home and taxes would not be a problem

Most of my contractors start off with unskilled labor at $10 an hour.  If they can operate a backhoe, maybe $15.  Welding is another story.  Most welders are independent and charge from $50 - $90 an hour.  They however provide their own truck, welding machine, etc.  They must pass a pipeline welding test.  Most welders are over 50.  Young people don't even want to get into welding.

TM7, You can call it class warfare if you want. But I don't seem to recall conservative politicians starting the political debate by blaming the lower classes for not paying thier fair share. The liberal politicians are always waging the class warfare battle, always. That is a differance.

Well sure...yeah!!  So-called Conservative politicians representing the wealth and elite class can't go there...that would amount to them admitting that they indeed practice class warfare in some way..!! About the only tactic they have is the sophistry of rhetoric and to deny deny, deny class warfare exists; or can even exist in America. Even libbers can't over use the term...that task must be left to the mass media manipulation matrix. But this is your thread....and I maintain class warfare has always existed and always will in the Great Circus. I also suggest not ignoring this fact of life in connection with your concepts of the 'natural order' of things.

I'm not missing your point at all TM7. I understand all that. My point is it has nothing to do with the tax increase we are ALL facing unless congress and the president come to terms. I will pay more, you will pay more and so will everyone else. The other point is if class warfare was looked at objectively in this particular debate over the potential income tax increase, the lower income brackets are apparently winning!

On the larger issue of class warfare, I get it. If you want to end class warfare then be on the side to end it ALL. Cut the money flow off to our government it will help stop it. The super wealthy are waging the real class warfare and they use our government to help them wage that war. That warfare is far larger than a stupid tax increase.

Don't know how many of you saw the Senator or Congressman from New York when he said the ineritance tax should be much higher than 50% because YOU won't care because you are dead. Deep thought from a Democrap idiot. (Really, they all are, this one just spoke what was on his mind and prooved it in his case).

You have to lower taxes about every 20 years or so.  With inflation, everyone gets put into a higher tax bracket, thus are taking home less real spendable income.  So, cutting taxes is normal with inflation.  Even with low inflation, you still have 2-3% inflation per year.  Over 20 years taxes become a higher percentage of your income.  Kennedy had to lower taxes in the 60's.  Reagan had to lower taxes in the 80's, and Bush 43 had to lower taxes in the early 2000's.  Right on schedule to lower them.  Now, deductions have changed a lot over time.  Reagan gave good deductions for employers who provided health care, 401-k's and hired extra help.  Unemployment went down, prices stablised, and inflation went down.  This continued into the 90's.  Clinton had nothing to do with it.

Most hispanics work for money , most young Americans have been brain washed into thinking they should work for fun , fame and when and how hard they want not what the guy paying wants.

Good and in to many instances true statement that some will not want to believe. I had a cousin (now deceased) that sold and erected metal buildings. He resisted as long as he could hiring hispanics but he could no longer find good help with whites only. For some reason few of them wanted to work hard during the summer in the heat in SW Kansas. He was amazed at the good work ethic of the hispanics that he hired. He did comment however that since the worked so hard and fast, be sure they understood exactly what you wanted done or they could screw up quickly also. In many cases I think drug testing is dubious at best. Just think, even Wal-Mart drug tests. Of all places to work where drug use would probably enhance both tolerating the crap job and improving customer service from what I have seen at most Wal-Marts.
