Getting old means...
« on: December 08, 2010, 02:46:49 PM »
Kids are gone, so more time and energy for sex.

Sleeping later because you dont have to work to suppoer a family

More quality time with the hunting dawg.

Fishing. Fishing. Fishing.

Ok, so the dirt nap is an eventuality and maybe some things happen to change your lifestyle, but other than that i don't see a down side.

Oh jeez! Getting old is easy! Thats why everybody does it!

Getting old means........
You forgot where you put your reading glasses
Your laying on the floor grimacing in pain because you just had more spasms in the back (in my case anyway)
You don't get carded unless its to see if you qualify for the senior discount
You can finally hunt slower and hopefully quieter
You start counting down the days when you call in your next prescriptions
You remember when a box of .30-30's cost ya a few bucks instead of having to break a twenty
You can't remember more than a few things at a time so you have to come back to threads like this   ;).

keep it going guys!

Librarian , if you can still do all those things , I don't think you are very old, or else you are very lucky to have great health!
I will turn 72 in Feb. To me it means I really can't hunt any more. I can go and sit in a shooting house at a green field if I can get there on a four wheeler. No way I can walk there any more. That is not the way I hunted. But my days of getting out there where the big boys hide will never happen again.
Old age means learning everyday what you can no longer do. I don't like it ,but I can't change it, so I just do the best I can.

Hummmmm--I wrote it down justa minute ago---where did I put that piece of paper---where are my glasses---Hon, did you move my glasses---OH--on my head---now, what were we talking about.
Sex--what is that. Seems like it use to bother me--now it doan--whatever.
Growing old is just a matter of attitude. I was sitting on the porch, just a minute ago, thinking about this subject--drinking coffee and smoking a cig.
I can do most anything I used to do---well sceptin that sex stuff and who cares anyway---it just takes me longer--but I aint doing anything anyway.
No deadlines--reports-worryin about a job that is going too hell--some disgrundled employee--worrying about this disgrundled employee.
Life is changeing and it is like being a kid but seeing and understanding all the changes that are happening.
Accepting change/changes is the key---mainly if you don't accept them they happen any how.
Time for more coffee.
Blessings

Getting old for a single man means sexually attractive women insist on calling you "sir."

Getting old for a single man means you wish you were sexually attracted to grossly overweight women.

Getting old for a single man means the realization that the new drop dead gorgeous barmaid is younger than your granddaughter.

Getting old for a single man means wishing you had a live-in mate only during the coldest part of winter.  And her weight doesn't matter so much.

Feeling really good in the morning when you wake up, then as soon as your feet hit the floor, you remember you have arthritus and back pain. And you have to steady yourself against the dresser to slip your slippers on. And hope you don't have to bend over to get the back of the slipper over your heal. gypsyman

This was all in jest whe first posted, but on a serious note, we learn that getting old means that you can have a good and happy lifestyle, although not able to do some of the things you used to be able to do. This has been studied and the conclusions are solid. There's a lot to be thankful for, even though we do acknowledge some limitations.

Another now well established fact is that couples who stay married for 20+ years and get through their 50s together, and into their 60s have an improvement in their marriages, and are generally happier. There's a spike of divorce during 40s and 50s when the kids leave and other big changes in life occur. Those who weather that storm are rewarded for it. A happy thought indeed.

To me it means teaching the grand kids things I think they should know, and listening to my daughter hollor to my wife to make me quit that. Also watching my son in law standing back and not saying a word.  ::)
