SHOT Show Rumours?
« on: December 09, 2010, 04:18:35 AM »
Any leaks on the upcoming SHOT show?  Would love to see the return of the 38-55.

I am hopeful.  But I fear we wont have much to chew on.  Seems like the last few years have been only included small changes.  A new stock here, a reborn cartridge there.  We might actually see less cartridge and model availability.  Thats been a bit of a trend unfortunately.

I have my piggy bank hid (yeah, its down that low) just in case they bring out another "pistol" cartridge- one of the hyphens- 25-20, 38-40 etc or a 327mag. I don't need another "hero", some super ubermag that takes either premium bullets or a cup of powder. I need something cheap to shoot, fun, and practical- not something that is usable only in a 2 week season each year.I am hopeful, but not expectant.... I expect there will actually be a reduction in models and calibers offered, perhaps I was lucky to find you guys when I did.

Was this a typo?  Are they embracing the Rim and reviving the 225 Win?

Well hope does spring eternal!  I'll definitely take a the 18.5 inch 44 mag and possibly the short 45-70.

I doubt they would revive the 225win. They already have the 22-250 with the 1-14twist and I would think to keep costs down they would probly use a 1-9 .224bbl that they already have and if they were to do that they would really only end up with what is a .223 Rem hot rod . Been there done that. Kurt

My thoughts exactly wookie76, because the 222 is a Remington cartridge.
The 225 Winchester would make a very nice Handi-Rifle.

GOOD SHOOTING!

They are not listed yet for sale.  The .222 is a real surprise to me.  Especially in a 22 inch barrel and when you have a .223 to sell.  Wonder if some one is pulling your leg?  Larry

Nope, no leg pullin, Brian already posted they have em once a couple months ago!  :D

Tim

The H&R barrel program is still very strong, we now have most of the barrels in stock. we do not make a 7.35mm Italian. just 35 wheelen & 35 Rem. we now also have 222 barrels available.

Thanks for the clarifications Tim!!

The 222 is a great little cartridge. Just dosent really do anything the 223 cannot. But it's a very accurate platform, albeit old mentality of the long neck and gentle shoulder. It holds some accuracy records.

IMHO, once people shoot it they will see it's a good one.
