cat sign
« on: December 12, 2003, 02:46:39 PM »
Howdy. I am from IN. but have been in the marine corps for the past, very long, 3 1/2 yrs. This is my first winter state side since I enlisted. This is also my last year in N.C. before I go home to IN. next june. I cant trap  bobcat back home, so I plan to take advantage of my last season down here.  Ill shut up now and ask my question. Can I get some advise about cat sign? What kind of areas do these guys like to use? I have what I believe to be, some good areas picked out. I will not be putting out any  of my land sets until Jan 1st, so I thought that I would pick a few more brains.
   thanx  Marc

Asa and Lynx can give ya some good info on cat sign and Im sure they will, but for starters think of thick areas where rabbits live.  I trap along small rivers, and when there is a deadfall across the river every cat in the area will use it to cross...perfect area for a set...both sides if you can.  Fox and coon will use it as well so several sets would be good in case a coon comes along first.
