Best bullet for Ruger No. 1 45/70

My No. 1 45/70 needs an LBT mold.  Measuring the slug from the throat I think it should be 460, does this make any sense?  Boy its a short throated bugger too.  I have killed a few deer with this rifle, but suppose I should get a bullet that would work good on heavier game since it is a big bore as that is more what it is for.

What do you recommend I order for weight, and will the lfn work through my star sizer?

Ive been useing the ballistic cast 540 wfngc in my marlin and my no 1 458 it has been real accurate and has taken two pigs in buddys guns and has performed great. Its a long bullet and its about the max that will work through my star.

The WFN works very well if seated deep enough to feed smoothly.  LFN's can be seated out farther and feed smoothly.  The Marlin bullet is the ultimate for feeding smoothly and is extreemly accurate, but the meplat is a bit smaller than the LFN, so it doesn't hit game quite as hard, though it does a very clean job if started at at least 1500 fps.
I haven't played with a 45-70,  but have learned that almost all shoot best with .460 or larger diameter bullets, because large chambers are typical.  If the chamber/throat/groove diameter is smaller and calls for smaller, of coarse the bullet should fit the gun it will be fired in.
