Having killed a buck this morning(down in shotgun) and feeling lucky after I got home
decided to purchase a rifle been wanting to have.Even knowing and hearing about some
problems with these I decided to go for it. Have almost a year to sort it out before the
next season that I will use it. I bought a brand new H&R 35 Rem for 240 + transfer. I
am hoping that it will be problem free, not having a 35 in many years. Would like to hear
any update or news since I believe several months ago, from owners now and any favorite
loads. Plan to send a couple boxes(both Rem & Win I Have) down the tube just for the
start, than its handloads after if all is well. Think its a great cartridge here in the East, had
a Marlin lever for a while.   Fred

Ive been holding out for years on a gun-show 357M or local sale......no luck. That sounds like a good deal on what should be a good cartridge. Im not sure, but you should be able to load that with lead bullets from 38Spl. equiv. on up, right?

nice gun , theyre getting a lot more popular around here with Mississippi's  primitive weapons rules allowing anything larger than 35 caliber in an exposed hammer single shot. a local shop bought 10 last week and sold the last 2 this evening while I was there.
the owner said one of the major distributors  had a special run of 35s made and 10 was all he could get.
all of them including the two I saw walk out were already spoke for before they even hit the store.

I bought a 35 whelen in September,  might have waited a bit if I knew some 35's were going to be available.

Have a 336 in 35 rem, fired it for the first time in October to check point of impact.  Had Win and Rem ammo.  Planned to use the Rem for hunting so started sighting with the Win.  Fired 16 rounds of the Win, the next to last one split a neck.  4 or 5 rounds of Rem shot to the same point of impact and did the job on a doe on opening day.

Congrats on the new Handi Fred, you'll love the 35 Rem, here's some data I gleaned from a 1982 Handloader magazine that's just right for your 35 Rem Handi, mine loves em, maybe someday I'll even kill something beside paper with it!  ::)

Thanks Tim for the loading data, I have H335 on hand and some 200gr corelocks and a 100 Hornady
Leverlution bullets. They are (Hodgden) suposed to bring out LVR powder in January. Got a box each
of Rem & WW to try before I reload to wring it out. Putting a 2x7 Redfield Revolution on it.
C W, am starting to get a liking for the synthetic camo, have it also on my 44mag & 444. Found interesting
article on the web about loads from the 125 gr XTP on up to the 250gr, with expansion & penetration tests.
The place I bought it also had new 7mm-08's and 44 mags in the same camo pattern. The 44's appear at
least by by Model # to be SB24RM.   Fred

That's probably John Albert's article, he posted it on MO when I first saw it, part one is on factory ammo, excellent 35 Rem article for anyone interested.  ;)

  • A good woman, nice bike and fine guns!
How cool is that Fred!   :o  Be sure to let us know about the range test.  I always loved the 35 Rem. but the only one I have is a Marlin 336.   :(

here's some data I gleaned from a 1982 Handloader magazine that's just right for your 35 Rem Handi,

WOW!   :o  Them's pushing my .358 Win loads for the same bullets!   :o  I wouldn't try 'em in my 336 though... But they would be great fun to play with in a Handi!  ;D

Where did you say you got your's Fred?

 ???
