I believe the Ranch Rifle has a different reciever sight configuration that allows the use of a scope.

hey guys! the ranch rifle has the little slots machined in the top of the receiver to allow use of rugers special rings for a scope. the rear site is also different on the ranch rifles ive had. the regular mini 14 has a more military style peep site and the ranch has a more conventional rear peep mounted in a standard dovetail slot. ranch rifles ussually bring a little more money than the regular mini.
