Mini-14 slide impact with receiver.

I bought one of the new Mini-14 tactical rifles a year ago and it shoots very well, never jammed.  I have noticed as it gets some mileage that the slide assembly is hitting/dragging on the receiver's right front side, the black finish on the gun tends to show the marring more than a stainless steel gun.  There is also finish wear on the top of the bolt near the extractor.  I use lots of grease, but that does not help.

I visited a large and fancy gun store in Houston 2 days ago, they had lots of the older Mini's and a few of the new ones in used condition.  I did not see any of this kind of wear on them.  There was a guy on the internet who had some photos posted of the same wear near the extractor as I had, so it is not a one of a kind situation.  I also looked at the M-1 Garands and carbines, no wear issues either.  Ruger had re-tooled their line on this rifle and tightened things up.  Anyone else have wear on the bolt and receiver assembly?  Should I be concerned that this will get worse as having the slide hit the receiver is not a good idea?

Got the same marks on my 187 series stainless mini. I wouldn't worry to much about it.  If you want more piece of mind you could get ahold of Rugers Customer service department.  There excellent to deal with. 

If you look inside the top of the reciever where the hammer swings through you'll notice where the bolt has been rubbing the extractor as the rifle is cycled. 

Also try some powdered graphite as a lubricant instead of the grease.

Thanks for the info, I suspect it is because Ruger tightened up everything from their older models.

  Ease up on the grease too.   grease collects and holds onto dust, dirt and debris.  Only need a very light oiling.
