My family scores well this season so far.
« on: December 12, 2010, 03:26:25 AM »
Hello all!
I just wanted to brag on my brothers a bit and show off some Missouri deer.
First was my younger brother Jeremy. He is no stranger to bowhunting and has a wall (actually walls) full of dandies. On Sept 26, he took a monster 173 incher with his bow.
Then on the night before the youth hunt, my brother Russell took a dandy ten point that scored 141 3/8 with his bow.
The second day of rifle season, I was lucky enough to take this nice nine point with my new Handi rifle in .308 at about 170 yds. Not as big as my brothers' bow-kills, but a decent buck in his own respect. He was chasing a doe and I had a split second to make a decision and a shot.
Here's the pics in order. These were all taken in central Missouri this year.
Thanks! Chris

Nice deer your son got hillbill but I have never seen brow tines shaped exactly like those before. ;)

That's a nice one HillBill! Congrats to your son!
The bucks on our farm often have an odd curve to their brow-tines. Sometimes almost like a candy cane. The center pic (my older brother's bow-kill) has some curve on them. They also tend to have some odd stickers on the G-2's on occasion. Here's a pic (not the greatest angle) of a buck I took here a few years ago with odd G-2's:

Here's one my nephew took the same year on the same farm. Notice the "candy cane" brow tines?

a few years ago i killed a large grizzlled  old 11 pt buck that was several years old at least.he had kind of  weird flat shaped brow tines.ive noticed this same feature on 2 large bucks we have killed here since.ive often wondered if that old buck is the one that gave his genetics and vastly improved the size of the bucks on my land.im not much of a trophy hunter anymore but my son does enjoy it very much.
