Varmint Hunter Magazines?
« on: December 12, 2010, 10:44:18 AM »
Not sure if this is the place to put this, so here goes.  I am trying to make space in my cramped little office/gun room.  I have a stack of Varmint Hunter Magazines that I am contemplating putting up for sale, however I have no idea what they are worth.  I have most issues from #3 to #51 which covers dates from July 1992 through July 2004.  All copies are in mint condition.  Does anybody have an idea of the value, or a recent issue that they could check the want ads in.  Thanks for any help, Dale

I've tried to sell about the same # of Precision Shooting magazines here at GBS a few years ago, but felt lucky to just basically give them away to a new home for around $20 for the lot just to pay for the shipping.  I also had a large # of old American Rifleman magazines that I couldn't even give away after taking them to several gun shows.  I finally just walked away from them.

You have about the same collection of them I do. I don't know what they are currently worth but back when I stopped being a member they would have been worth around $300 I believe. Issues one and two are the rarest and most expensive. I dunno if folks actually got what they were asking but those two alone used to list for as much as the rest you and I have combined.

I'd have to do a heck of a lot of searching to get all mine together but I doubt I'd want to let them go for much if any less than $250 plus shipping as I think that's a fair value based on what I've seen them listed for. I'd think you should be able to get that IF and that's a great big IF you can find a buyer that really wants what you have. That however is the trick.

Hard to compare with what you have exactly. The last issue has No 1 through 76, excellent condition, always stored in protective sleeves. $375.00 plus $40.00 shipping.

Like Bill said finding the person that wants what you have??

There is an add in about every issue, don't know if they ever sell.

Start with what you want and go down from there. If you don't want them a $100.00 would be better than moving them around like I do ;D I have most of them that I don't really need but don't really want to sell. Hope this helps, Good Luck
