Lee 459-500 3R mold
« on: December 13, 2010, 09:58:07 AM »
I have the H&R BC 32" barrel, I want to get a 500 bullet to use at 200 to 500yds.  (silhouette and/or targets)  I am looking at "Brooks" for a Creedmoor but I will not beable to order it for about 3 to 5 months.  It's only $20.00 or so for a lee 459-500 3R just to see how it may work.  Was wondering about how long was the length of the bullet and the nose diameter above the last groove. (throat area)   If you have it, how successful is the design?   Every one was telling me to get the Lee 405 HB, well I had a lot of trouble with the mold, could not get it to close as it should and trouble with the base.   Lee said to be careful when I close the mold!!!!!! I did, I guess I just had a bad made mold.   Thanks for your time      beng

Bernie (dodd3) shoots that bullet in his BC, he also gas checks it(see gas checking PB bullets in the FAQs if you're interested how), I know he shoots it out to 800yds, maybe he'll chime in.
