I wonder if Justice breyer ever read the federalist papers, any of the writings by our forefathers, let alone the last part of the second??

I also wonder if breyer wants to come to my house and inform me of his favored restrictions? Another college (collage?) educated idiot.  Defy tyranny, defend Liberty.

It amazes me that so many constitutional arguments are made without an understanding of why the country was founded in the first place.

A very bad idea offered by him really. It would seem by his "go to Maryland " statement he feels that DC is above the law of the land . Why should one state be afforded different Federal law than a city ? He is correct in that guns are requlated , when they cross state lines , when a felon wants one are but two examples .
The election of 2012 will be the most important in history maybe.

If there is anyone showing a lack of brain cells its those that think the libs and demo are stupid . They have gotten elected to control the most powerful govt. in the world. They are moving their agenda forward while the consertives and moderates are still trying to figure out what the republican agenda should be. Throwing the Consitution at them but offering no plan to make America strong once more is not working.
Every time some consertive hears something in the Consitution used in a way they don't like they offer other writings of the time. If they wanted to change things they would demand these papers be taught in school by a netural teacher. Our kids are being brain washed and we only react to gun control. There is way more to freedom than gun control. Freedom of speech is being attacked . If our kids were taught right in school such BS would never make it to consideration much less the floor.
Its not about what the founding fathers would have allowed its about what we allow !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Can anyone give an example of an issue in which one side of the debate engages in more tortured reasoning and invented history in order to "stay in the game" with the opposing side than anti-gunners do in the gun control debate?  The meaning of the 2d Amendment and the supporting writings and history could not be clearer if one takes an even rudimentary approach to understanding the Bill of Rights and why they were adopted.

What is so hard to understand about the fact the nation was born out of an armed insurrection in which the existance of privately held arms was an important factor in winning the war and given that experience our founders wanted to make sure that no future government could ever have an monopoly on force?  Why would each of the amendments involve individual rights except the 2d Amendment?  Breyer and others like him need to change the history in order to mitigate or obscure those facts/questions.

The reality of our situation today is that the U.S. is governed by an priviledged, urban elite, who exist mainly in the overdeveloped Northeast, and for whom the thought of millions of regular folks living in "flyover country" being armed AND loving their individual liberty is terrifying.  Armed people cannot become slaves-they will either become free or dead.  This is a clear and present danger to people like Breyer.  That is why it is necessary for him others to reinvent history.  Was it Lenin or Marx who said something to the effect that those who control the history control the present.  I'm not sure who I have more contempt for:  The Breyer types who are predictably anti-gun or those gun owners who think the 2d Amendment is about having the right to go duck hunting.

All the “smart” opposition to the 2nd amendment clearly understand the principal of this civil Right. It’s exactly what they want to disable, our ability to over-throw the control and tyranny they want to unleash.  The UN, the Super Wealthy both domestic and international are the energy behind this effort. They want to take your wealth away and they know that they must disarm us to secure long term success. Look at Europe with the formation of the EU. If one country falters the others pay (Greece & Ireland sound familiar?). Who do you think is really getting rich off the single currency Euro? Follow the money trail and you find the purveyors of global tyranny.

There is no overstatement here. They want to control you, your life and rob you of your wealth for various reasons. They need to disable your ability to resist. It's as simple as that.

let's just hope that he waits till we have a conservative gun-loving president when he decides to retire and hang up his robe.  I don't think this nation can withstand yet another international law, social justice loving liberal; especially a justice who thinks like the one who claims a wise Spanish woman can make a more reasoned decision than a white man.

IMHO I think you are putting way more into this than what it is. What it is, is people that are scared of firearms for a number of reasons due to lack of experience and/or listening to others that are paranoid of firearms. Some people react to firearms like others do to a rattle snake. One advantage of WWII was that a much higher percentage of people were exposed to and trained to use firearms and in turn understood that they were a tool that needed to be properly handled and used. With todays urbanization and small percent of the population that has been through military training a much smaller percent of the population has direct experience with firearms. Probably the last reason is media. Most news that involves firearms is in negative contexts such as gang shootings, robberies, domestic fights, etc. You hardly ever hear a news account of a positive hunting experience or one defending themselves with a firearm.

Breyer is just another politician that probably has never ''walked the walk'', so to speak. Like so many that claim to know what it's like to be poor. I'll give you what you want, just vote for me. He claims to know what the founders would have wanted, trouble is, he's changed the meaning, at least in his own mind, as to what they intended. He would take an hour to give you the definition of what ''is'' is. gypsyman

Then why is the UN behind the effort of a global small arms gun ban?

these are the same elitists that brought us the global warming hysteria and ideas like Cap&Trade. Nothing more than a means to steal money from rich countries and give it to poor 3rd world nations.

For some people it is just a fear of guns. For the super wealthy, the UN and the reast of the globalists, its all about disarming you so you can't fight.

I would suggeat a network of friends . TRUSTED FRIENDS . This should happen long before SH'sTF . We will go back to passing the word .
The past has shown that groups communicate thru. one person to other groups as a safety but that might be what happens if most don't travel. As someone travels they may pass along news etc. like in by gone times. In a shtf time sickness may cause even less communication.

I would like to see your studies backing that up. At least it is not that way in Kansas. Due to the nature of my work I work with multiple school districts. You will find more conservative teachers than liberal ones (yes I am in a minority). Many are hunters and fisherman. A few schools even close on the opening day of deer season. The fear of guns are not taught. Maybe in San Francisco and Portland.

I don't have stats but all three of my kids were ask to sign a contract with Chesterfield County Schools stating they would not touch a gun at any time. All three refused as they all hunted and shot guns for fun. And yes it is a very liberal school system .

I am sure it varies a lot depending upon the part of the country and maybe how urban. I just get kind of tired when schools are blasted without data to back it up. Over time several people on this board have made statements concerning how easy a job teachers have, that they work 30 hours or so a week, etc. Those that have made those statements must only enter a parking lot of a common school to think that is how they operate. I still say that teaching is one of the more difficult jobs out there, especially for what most are paid and that they have to bear the full cost of required continuing college education to stay licensed.

Well I have several teachers in the family . I would say you are using the teachers to defend the admin. Many teachers do as they are told to keep their jobs like most of us. Kids are taught not to defend them selves , that they can pass with out trying, that a job should make them happy, grades are not important and a bunch of other lib bs. Why are school systems handing out condoms ? If you give them out don't ya think the kids will try them ? why is school systems teaching alternative sex acts ? Ain't reading righting and rithmetic enough ? These are lib ideas are they not ? You ask for stats open your eyes and not only see the crap they make teachers teach but the dumbness of many who pass thru. the systems
