Read a book called The Rape of Nanking. Fascinating. Very gory, but if you skip the middle, don't look at the pictures, and just read the first and last thirds of the book, you'll be amazed by the story.

Yep, it happened but still NOT the same as planned, organized, detailed collection, enslavement and death of one particular ethnic/religious group.  Nothing in the western world has ever compared to the "holocaust" of the Jews in WWII period.

Not that I'm taking sides either way.  Being completely opposed to racism both of them tend to ruffle my feathers (with TM seemingly blaming them for all the world's problems and powder putting them up on a pedestal), but TM's name was certainly mentioned earlier.

IMHO, racism and intolerance is what caused the Holocaust, and it was indeed a great, great tragedy.  Want to honor the memories of those poor souls?  Fight against racism and intolerance.  And if you run up against a group that IS intolerant, strive to change their ways, not eliminate them, lest you become a hypocrite and commit the same crime.

In my opinion the subject of American indians vs jewish of WWII is only seperated by numbers. But their demise was just as planned, just as organized, just as detailed in collection and enslavement. Some would relate the death of almost 70% of the Pequot tribe in the 17th century due to their contraction of european diseases as biological warfare, and was indeed the case when the british would give revolutionary aligned tribes diseased blankets, that practice worked with not only the brits but new americans as well. The military campaigns were indeed planned and organized with warfare followed by collection and movement to reservations which are still in common usage today, I have not heard of any european camps still in use. Yes, the native americans can come and go as they wish. But as stated, other than numbers, I see no differance at all.  Not trying to poke, just  saying.

Okay... let's see there must have been some grand plan or "conspiracy" that lasted over 400 years in order for the Spanish, English, French, Dutch, Americans (and others) to attempt to exterminate the native Americans.  NOT...  did they kill the NA, yes.  Did they plan to?  Yes, at times.  Did they attempt biological warfare?  Yes, at times.  Did they round up the NA in camps yes, at times.  However the reasons, methods and scale were different.  Over the course of 400 years and two continents, the NA died by the tens of millions.  Some were the result of VD, many just didn't have the resistance to european diseases which were introduced accidentally.  I'm sorry, I just don't recall any examples of NA's being collected, enslaved, seperated, and then systematically murdered in assembly-line fashion by the millions over the course of 8 years or so.  Yes, some of those things happened in incidents perpetrated by various governments, groups and people.  However, unless you happen to believe in some great multi-century conspiracy to eliminate the NA's then there is just no comparison between what happened to the NA's and what happened to the Jews in WWII.
Yes, reservations were "concentration camps".  However, it has always been possible for the individuals to leave.  The reservations were NOT set up with the sole purpose of being a "death camp".  Big difference between being thrust at bayonet point into a gas house and being forced onto a reservation that you can leave if you agree to certain conditions.  The Jews were not offered the option to assimiliate or leave.


Both were terrible, but not the same.

   Has anyone taken your temp or other vitals lately ? To compare the Japanese interrment with the holocaust is juvenile, at best...
  Yes, FDR did rather panic and treat those Japanese-Americans badly; they were rounded up and transported to internment camps.  While those camps were not any "Heaven on earth", they did have livable quarters, adequate food and some recreative facilities, plus the families involved were allowed/encouraged to set up their own social network and functions within the camps.. Barring death by disease, accident or natural causes, they all went back home, even though some unfortunately, lost some valuable property in the process.
    Compare that to Jewish-Germans, who were rounded up..transported by day & night in box cars without heat, water or food; then dumped out on a RR siding in the concentration camp.  Once into the concentration camp, where they were stripped of their clothing or identity and placed in two lines; one line to be immediately executed..the other to be starved and worked down to helplessness, experimented upon by mad doctors and then discarded and packed off to the gas chambers.
  Just a smattering of historical study would settle much of your confusion.

For those of you who are comparing the Jewish, Chinese, Native American, and other murders, exterminations and genocides; NONE lasted as long as the genocide of the Native Americans.  NONE were even close.  The Native American enslavement and extermination went on for at least 400 years.  I would bet no other genocide, extermination (call it as you will) could come close to the numbers of lives taken either.

Arguing over the numbers and stats doesn't really matter; after watching the posted video and then to read on and think about all of this, it almost makes me ashamed to be a human.  I can't help but think to myself, "what the H*LL is wrong with people?"
