"I have a dream"

  I took my Type 38 Arisaka hunting for the first time this year and fell in love with it. Last night I had a dream that I was building another. It just happens that I have a Type 99 in the gun cabinet that has been sporterized already. In my dream I couldn't figure out how to barrel it though. The big debate was 6.5x55 Sweede or 300 Win Mag.
  What is your opinion?

i know that it's a tough rifle but i'm not sure it is 300 win mag tough.

   I've been told had have read on line that Jack O'conner and P.O. Ackley could blow up Mausers but never had an Arisaka fail. But that is why I'm looking for opinions, Im not an expert. ;)

6.5x50 is one of my favorite cartridges, why re-chamber/barrel it at all?

    Well, to answer a few questions, The type 99 is 7.7 Jap. Not 6.5. I had my Type 38 Rebarreled in 260 Rem. (6.5 Rem.) and I love it. The type 38 is a short action and may have had trouble feeding the 6.5 Swede. The type 99 is a long action, that is why I am considering a bigger round.


    As for the Blond, I have a good looking brunet sleeping next to me. I get to play with my guns more than her. She doesn't get jelious about me fondeling my rifles, the blond would get me shot! :o  I'm a realist, I dream of the things I can get my hands on. ;)
