BOY, some doctors.
« on: December 16, 2010, 12:22:37 PM »
My wife has been having quite a few physical ailments for quite some time and has has tests at the hospitol last week and again today. We got 1/2 inch of ice last night but we went anyway. Pried the door handle up and had to scrape ice from the door before I could get in. 20 mph the first 10 miles or so and it took an hr and 10 min to go the first 25 miles. The hour trip took 1 hr and 45 minutes. They took her in the room as soon as we got there, 7 am. We had to wait several hours on this dr last week. He lives right behind the hospitol, he finally decided to honor us with his presence about 11 am. The nurses said they never know when he's coming til he gets there. After the tests he talked with me and gave me some preliminary results. As he was leaving I asked him if he realized that we had driven on ice 1 hr and 45 min to get there and that we had waited over 4 hours on him??? He smiled, nodded his head and said, yes. Before we left I asked to meet with admin. I told her that this seems to be normal for this doc according to the staff there and I felt that he was not only disrespecting his patients but the hospitol and staff as well and suggested that they talk with him and let him know this was not acceptable and that if it continued they would advise him to use another hospitol. I have to add though that the nurses and staff there are great, and yes, I let them all know, it was the doc I had a problem with. Been a long frustrating day. POWDERMAN.  :o :o :o :o :o :o

i hope you and your wife the best and for the doctor in question it sounds like a good place to start  cleaning out the trash. sounds like our hospital here. we have waited in there over four hours one time. i did let them know i would pay them with the courtisys that they showed my familey. we now go to a different hospital when needed.

Been there myself. Once I was getting dressed when the dr. came into the exam room an hour and a half late. He smugly ask me if I still wanted my appt? That torqued me off, his whole I'm a neurologist, I'm better than you attitude. After my consult I climbed up one side and down the other about his inability to read a watch( I missed my next appt.) and his presumed notion that his time was any better than anyone elses and that he was an arrogent ass. I left the office with kudos from two nurses and the receptionists applause. Apparently word got around fast, or they heard me outside the exam room, probably the later.  I am vocal at times, oh well.

The arrogance of SOME drs never ceases to amaze me. Our family Dr is nothing like that. In over 25 of seeing him we have NEVER had to wait more than 15 min, and many times get in early. He's never in a hurry and been a good friend.
When I had a broken leg many years ago the dr would be in and out of the room in less than 2 min. One visit I had a list of questions I had written down and took hold of his arm as he tried to leave. He smiled as I got my list of questions, sat down and answered all of them. I reckon you just have to get their attention sometimes. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Lawyers are the same way. Years ago I was going to an arbitration meeting for a friend. They wanted me their at 9 am, I get their at 8 45 am. Office secratary(sp) asked if I wanted coffee v ery polite and profeshanol(sp). At 9 15 the other party and lawyer arrived. My friends lawyer had gotten there about 5 min to 9. The other lawyer and his client sat in a huddle for about 15 min woundering about me and what I knew about the case. Then both lawyers and the arbitrator sat in the back office till a few mins after 10. Finally got called in and asked if I had any questions about the meeting. WRONG thing to ask me. Unloaded upon all three that my time was just as vauleable as theirs was. Made refference that they had probably not served in the military or they would be on time. opposening lawyer asked me the same question 5 times, just wording it diffrent time. Finally asked the arbitrator how many times I had to ans. the same question. He told lawyer dont ask the question again because I had ans. with the same ans. all 5 times. My friend won the arbitration as I proved the other party was a down and out lier.

The doc said that among other things Patty has a hiatial hernia that is keeping her stomach and esophagus inflamed. She's really weak, I got her fed and her meds and just got her to bed. Hopefully we can both get some rest tonight. She somehow came out of this with a black eye with no explaination from the doc. After 30 + years I tend to be a might protective I guess. The doc should have ended up with a black eye if you ask me. ;)
It just seems like some of 'em got that smug attitude like the world owes 'em something.
I hope things work out with your wife and she gets to feeling better soon. :)

Powderman,
May want to talk to your primary MD about the stomach.  If the GI tract becomes too acidic it messes with the system and can lead to a lot of other things.
Acid blockers work to shut down the acid production in the stomach.  Then there is another med, can't remember the name right now, that is a made up of two types glucose molecules.
This second med coats any areas of ulceration, breaks in the lining of the stomach, and allows it to heal.
Worked for me a few years ago.

Sorry to hear about your experience.  Have a friend who is a pilot for LifeFlight.  Based on what they see of local ER's he recommends Taylor Co. Hosp.
Don't think he ever (maybe rarely) flies patients out of Hardin.

If that doctor cant respect your time I seriously doubt that he is capable of respecting your wife as a patient.
We had a horrible doctor experience a few years ago.
My wife called me home from work on night to take her to the ER. I have been a paramedic for 16 years and I knew she had a life threatening condition. I wanted her to call 911 but she wanted me. So I came home and rushed her to the local ER. This dickweed ER doc didnt even want to check her out. Wanted to just send her home I asked him to check her throat and while I am still in a uniform that says PARAMEDIC all over it asked me if I had any formal medical training. So he tells us to wait for the nurse to come in for her discharge orders I followed him into the hall and told him if he discharges her I will march outside call 911 and have local EMS pick my wife up in front of his ER and take her to another hospital. So finally he decides to check her throat-GEE WHIZ! it is almost swelled shut so we go from discharge to ICU and calling in specialists. Jackass. he was just collecting a paycheck. That experience really soured me on doctors in general. That idiot treated my wife like she was a drug seeker.

Several years ago a friend of mine, a local emt called for an ambulance for his wife and was told it would be at least an hour or more and dispatch told him she didn't have an hour and to take her himself. The Ohio river bridge was being worked on and was down to one lane. Dispatch had our county police secure  the bridge so that when he got there he would have a straight shot and arranged for an ambulance to meet them in Corydon. He crossed the bridge and had his emergency lites on too. About midway there a female state cop with pms started chasing him, he kept driving til he met the ambulance. The pms lady immediately grabbed Mike and told him he was undr arrest, he told her to get out of his way til his wife was loaded then she could do as she pleased. Mike had to go before a judge who had no sympathy and gave him a healthy fine. Mike said, your honor, do you have any idea how many times I have been the first on the scene and rendered aid to your people til your own got there?? The judge said, no  I don't. Mike said, I never will again. I know he ws just angry and would help anyway.
BTW. my wife is diabetic so it  wouldn't take much to bruise her. She's still tired and weak but just ate her breakfast. Thanks for the prayers guys, she needs them all. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D

LOL, That might be the hospital my dad walked out of 2 years ago before surgery.

Dad had waited 6 months to get rotator cuff surgery done. The surgery was scheduled for 8:00 AM and he was supposed to of been the first one in. He had to get up at 5:00 am and drive to the hospital to be there 1 hour before the scheduled surgery. About 10:00 rolls around and he ask the nurse what the hold up was and was told the DR rearranged his schedule and he would be taken in later that day. Dad gets up puts his cloths on and tells the nurse in no uncertain terms he does not wait 6 months for am appointment to have it rescheduled at the last moment. And that the DR or hospital had better not send him a bill because he would not pay it.

To my knowledge they never sent a bill and he never did get the surgery done.  Dad told me he would rather live with it than put up with their BS.

Well, I guess that I'm Blessed in that I have gotten very, very good treatment at Rodabush (sp?) V.A. in Indy. My doctor, Dr. Tacon Vu, is a South Korean and very professional.  one time , I went in for a physical and waited for approximately 6 hr. (only time it happened) and finally notified the secretary that I'd had it and was going home. Left.  On the way home Dr. Vu called me on my cell phone and explained that they had an influx of sandbox troops that were in need and that it had played hell with the appointment schedule. he asked me if I would consider coming back in the morning for my physical and I told him yes. Next morning I'm there 20 minutes early and in 10 minutes they had me in the exam room with him. He apologized profusely for the FUBAR. I had had time to think on the issue and told him not to worry. My issue was a routine physical, whereas theirs were injures that needed attention. I figure they had EARNED a place in front of this old man. Also, Dr. Vu doesn't leave you until you understand and have any questions answered that you need to know. He is one FINE doctor. Need more like him.  God Bless to all.

       Goofy.
P.S. How many Dr.'s will call you up and apologize for the inconvenience you underwent?? Not many. Just common courtesy, something missing a lot today.

That sounds like a doctor that became a doctor for all the right reasons. My old family doctor was old school like that but he retired about 8 years ago and I have been bouncing around between doctors ever since. I doubt I will find another one like him.

At the Army Hospital the staff (enlisted troops and civilians) wears blue scrubs, the doctors wear green.  One night I got a call about a water leak in an emergency surgery unit.  I rushed up there and went up to the surgery floor.  The unit numbers were not posted and I was not sure where the problem was.  No one was in the hallway, yet I could see people working in the surgical rooms on patients through the large windows.  Finally someone came down the hallway.  I stepped out and asked can you tell me where surgical unit X is.  The man looked at me and said, "I'm a surgen".  I replied, "Oh I'm sorry, the green scrubs means stupid.  I'll look for someone in blue who can give me real information".  I walked away leaving him standing there looking like he was going to explode.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
