PMR30 banned in nys
« on: December 18, 2010, 01:05:37 AM »
I went to order a PMR30 yesterday and the gun dealer told me they were banned in nys because they had 30 round magazines.  Has anyone else encountered this nonsense in any other state?????  Do you think Kel-Tec might consider a PMR10 with a 10 rnd mag that could later be switched out for a 30 rounder?????  Has anyone even seen a PMR30 on their website??

New York is a perfect example of the bumper sticker wisdom "when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns".
I haven't researched it but I'd be surprised if the 30 round mag isn't illegal in lots of places.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

There are only a few states that I know of with magazine size restrictions.   It is unlikely that Kel-tec would manufacture different magazines just for those few states.  As it stands P-11s and PF9s are not legal in Mass. or California due to the lack of a thumb safety device.  KT can not keep pace with the demand in the states where they are already legal so they are not worried about selling guns in states with stupid regulations.

Mikey,

We'd love to have you in the Gunshine state.  Besides, KT's are made in Cocoa Beach, and there is no snow!!!

Yep....need a guinness and boar shoot and then we may feel better......

BTW....wrong forum but...I tried to buy a Ruger BH Bisley in 41mag from a dealer in NY...and...in my oppressed state...it was illeagal because it had bisley grip frame and an engraved cylinder....a standard BH grip frame and no engraved cylinder would have made it legal to purchase.

Doug:  you're right.  Nothing goes better with Russian Boar than a Guiness.  That regulation is just plain crazy but, we live in the two craziest states in the northeast - maybe they thought the revolver had been modified because of the grip may have been changed and a extra capacity cylinder added, which may have turned it into a full auto single action assault revolver with a extra large cylinder capacity.  Did it have a bayonet mount?????
