Affordable 1911/ 45acp mags
« on: December 18, 2010, 04:48:22 AM »
I found some affordable 1911 mags if anyone is interested.

www.cdnninvestments.com/    They are offering the 1911 45acp 8rd asian mags sold by taurs, #TAUAM  $7.99 each

www.centerfiresystems.com    They have the 1911 45acp 7rd mags clones #mag04501  $6.99 each

I also have some from J&G sales too and they all work.  But there quality does vary between them, i have heard others have had bad luck with some of them.

Try SARCO - they have a deal on 45 mag pouches, I purchased two for a total of $15.00 and got 4 magazines with them.  Now if that isn't a bargain, nothing is.

I told the misses its all your fault on the forum here talking about the 8rd mags.(just kidding)   I have a few different 1911's and not enough mags to go with each one when my kids inherit them.  So i ordered 10 of the 8rd mags from CDNN, plus i have about 10 or so of the 7rd mags also.  For the cost thats not too bad.  I did come across the two Chip McCormic 8rd mags that i forgot i had purchased a while back also. With so many states changing there thoughts on purchasing larger mags that hold more rounds i'm not sure when it will hit here.  I'm not sure if one more round will make a difference if they pass a new law, we never know because i see more states added to list everytime i see it.(scary)  I'll look at the sarco deal too.  I think i got that deal once before with the pouch.

personaly i dont think saving money buying cheap 1911 mags is a smart thing. The magazine is the heart of your gun and is the cause of most 1911 malfuntions. Id much rather have one wilson or chip mccormick mag then 5 cheap ones. I also dont have alot of use for 8 round mags. Ive had much less problems with 7s and for a civilian that extra round doesnt mean much. I cant see many senerios where you would ever fire 3 rounds let alone 8 defending yourself.

Cheaper Than Dirt had 8 rd Chip McCormick Shooting Star mags for $15.97 last week, (but they are out of stock right this minute).  For me, they are a good value without sacrificing reliability.

If those magazines don't work, they're not affordable.  I've been burnt once by buying some so called affordables.   However, a friend of mine recently persuaded me to try some of his that were made by a company in California.  Smooth, just like you expect a mag to work.

Even a cheap mag that works when you get it still makes me nervous. I have to wonder if the mag, or at least the lips have been hardened or will the lips deform after a period of time. That is the problem I have had in the past with the cheap ones I bought.

Information on Mecgar;

Mecgar 7rd = 15.80, 8rd with contoured floorplate = 17.60, for blued ones at Midsouth Shooters Supply.

I like good mags they are worth the cost. That said I picked up some military surplus mags new in the sealed package for $5.00 each . They have been good range mags or IDPA mags for a while now and never had a problem. They look good and the printing on the body is well done not looking like a cheap mag can.

I have been happy with the 8 rd Chip McCormic magazines. I have a lot (Haven't Counted) of the "Power Mags". They work as well as my Wilson mags and cost a bit less. I haven't had an issue with 8rd mags that I've not had with the 7rd. I did buy a case of military mags some years ago. They are still in cosmoline, I'm sure they work as well as any and are/were inexpensive. You can't have too many magazines!
