Help with Buehler safety

I just dissasembled my o3/a3 bolt gave it a good cleaning and put it back together. When I got it back together the safety(Buehler made) is all kinds of sloppy. Is there supposed to be a spring in there? I didnt see one when I took it apart(doesnt mean it didnt shoot out). Any help as to if there is a spring, and where to get one, would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, there is a spring.Its very small.There is a small hole on the shaft of the safety where the spring goes.Buehler is out of business but Timney makes a similar unit.You might try them for a replacment spring.

Thanks for answering. Would you happen to know what size spring (dimensions) goes in there? Maybe I could get one at the hardware store or something?

Guess what I found! I made one last sweep of the hardwood floor in my living room and somehow I found it sitting in a seam.

Now that I found it, How does it go back in? I never saw it come out so Im not sure about putting it back in. I see the hole on the shaft but Im not sure.

Timney is located in AZ which is Mountain Standard Time.  I had to adjust for that when I called them recently for a M700 trigger.  First time I called I realized it was there lunch time, second call designed to fit the time zone and a nice lady answered and took my order.  Nice enough she might hook you up with someone who can tell you how the spring goes in.  Told me to call if I needed any help installing the trigger.

Sixteen years ago I went looking for Buehler and found them out of business.  Found the old phone number in a gun digest and call.  Buehler himself answered and said he had the safety in stock and he sent me one; must have passed my check in the mail.  Buehler is a piece of gunsmithing history, I am glad Timney is making the Buehler safety.

Place the spring in the hole on the shaft and while compressing the spring insert the safety into the bolt shroud.Be careful as it can get away from you.I hope this helps.
