Good job Swift, that is a good day of shooting. What load do you find best for them?
Size shot, amount, and choke? Ive done pretty good with 1 & 1 1/8 oz 7 1/2 s. I once shot one up in the jet stream with a Browning BT99 after trapshooting. It was dead at the shot and took a while and a distance to hit the ground. That was fun
A few years ago I drove down a road for about a mile and there had to be several hundred flying over me going to roost. A couple years ago several would fly across or very near my house on their way somewhere within 15 min every day. I would go out on the patio turn on the caller and here they come
I've been going to try to follow them to their roost and then they go out searching for food during the day and return to the roost in the eve. Once you find their flight pattern you have em.
Wasn't gonna admit this but I got a 410 barrel off a member the other day. Let the dogs out and heard crows. Grabbed the Fox Pro set it on my shooting bench on the patio and here they come. Well I had to try it, shot one 2 1/2" #6 at one and another came and I tried a 3" #4 . I think I may have shot behind them as the gun is new to me with a 22" barrel. Not the right follow through I'm thinking. Looked as though they were in range. I know 410 is not the right gauge for the task but I had to try it. Will grab the 12 gauge next time
Graybeard, That's a whopper of a fish, I mean crow story
Sounds like a blast
